FS/FT Kluson Deluxe 6 in-line tuners, chrome

These have been sitting in my parts bin for over a decade. I was actually getting ready to use them for a project I’ve got going, but they’re too shiny. If anyone has a pair of aged/relic’d tuners of the same style to trade, I’d be open. Otherwise, I’ll just sell these and maybe pick up a set of the Fender road worn tuners for my project. 

Only caveat: I only have 4 of the little mounting screws.  Given the size of them and the length of time I’ve had these tuners, I’m kind of surprised I have any of them…

I don’t know, what’s fair for these, $30 plus shipping?

Do you know what size hole those will fill? There's two sizes, I need the larger size but I don't remember what that size is. At least I think I do. Maybe I should break out the ruler.

I don’t know right off the bat. Tomorrow I can measure them if you’d like. The other thing I can do is I can compare them to the vintage tuners I have on my parts caster which I know the measurements. 

in all honesty, I’m not super familiar with the Klusons. In fact, I have no idea how I even ended up with these in my parts bin. Im guessing I took them on trade and just set them aside for the future. I might have some pack rat tendencies…

I was just thinking the same thing today about something but now I can't remember what that something was.

The larger size is 10mm.  Stuff like Sperzels,  Schallers, etc. work with those.  The Klusons should be the smaller vintage spec.

Thanks Chris. Sperzels were filling these holes before.

If it helps, there are conversion bushings available if you want to use "vintage spec" tuners on a guitar drilled for 10mm tuners (Shallers, Gotoh, et. al.).

I've used these before - they work great.

Originally, I was going to. Then, looking at them it seemed like the buttons were chrome and I didn’t want to deal with relic’ing then because of the hassle. Now that I dig a little deeper, it seems that most places only list nickel or gold as options for the Kluson Deluxe tuners. If these are in fact nickel, then I will seriously reconsider doing a relic job on them myself. I guess the fact that they’ve been in my parts bin tucked in a plastic bag for so long has kept them out of the elements they didn’t show any signs of wear I just kind of assumed they were chrome. I am a little colorblind so distinguishing chrome from nickel can be a little difficult for me at times…

I believe muriatic acid will still work on chrome but you have to leave it in longer
