I'm not affilated in any way with either of these, as I'm about half a continent away from them. They seem like pretty fair prices given current exchange rates (<$1K for the Phantom; <$1.8K for the Newport).  FWIW, I imagine it'd be a lot cheaper to ship from Cda > US now than vice versa (no offence guys, but your shipping costs have gone off the rails since the pandemic started).

I can vouch for SpaceMan though - bought a couple of things off them in the last few yrs and they're good to deal with and pack/ship responsibly. I've been able to dicker on prices too, but these are consignments, so I don't know how much wiggle room there is in the prices.

Yes, Spaceman is a good outfit, but what did that Phantom owner do to that poor guitar!   At least, the original three coils are in the case!  Low price, too.

Is that even a Phantom model for sure? Looks like some kind of bastard son of a Phantom and a Prototype possibly. Would this be a factory custom order or has someone taken a saw to a Phantom???

That is what Phantoms looked like in 1997:  the triple pickup returned with the Prototype shape.  Here is another example:

That Newport isn’t a Custom thou, it’s the same as mine ( and makes me think $900 from Dave’s Guitars was an absolute steal even with a heel repair).

I know the phantom there has different pickguard on it than the original. There’s no chance it a prototype is there? I’m curious if the single coil space for the neck is under that pick guard.

Looking at some 90s phantom pics looks like they would have added some new screw holes for that pickguard they put on there. Lord

The 90s Phantoms were not exactly like the 80s Prototype models.  Close, but not the same.
