LucSulla Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 I'm really putting out a feeler here. I've been rolling some gear and need to sell a few things. I doubt anyone would be interested in the possible guitar (ESP), but I might have an amp that would be of interest. After living with all these Marshalls for 8 months to a year now, I think I may be ready to move this JCM 800 down the road. It's a great amp, but between the SV20, Silver Jube, and the Vintage Modern, I really don't find I grab this one as much. I basically have a Marshall that I like a tad better for whatever I'm going for in Marshall land that night, and that's before I even get to the Freidman or Splawn. It is a European transformer, and, as I understand it, it doesn't even have taps to rewire for 120v. You'd need to get an all new tranny. I opted instead to buy one of these, and everything has been perfectly fine, aside from having one more thing to take to a gig. https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-voltage-converter-Transformer-Charging/dp/B00EEJZRO2/ref=sr_1_7?crid=EK6MXL7HKJW7&keywords=step+down+transformer+220v+to+110v&qid=1655051760&sprefix=step+down%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-7 I've only played a handful of shows with this amp, but it's great. I believe there is more gain in the preamp than an old school 2203, but there is also less thump dues to the 20 watts. It's pretty damn loud. Opening it up in 20 watt mode, with everything at 7, it's about 114 dB on my watch dB meter at 1 foot or so though a 4x12. On 5 watt mode, it's 108-109 (which, if you know your physics....). Loop is great, weight is great, and I've had zero issues. I'm asking $1200 to your door CONUS, which feels like an OK deal looking at used, low hour heads, shipping and sales tax on Reverb, and accounting for dealing with voltage consideration. Will ship in original box with paperwork, cables, and so on. EU/UK plugs included, though you can use a US IEC too. Most stepdowns don't care which you use as long as the voltage is right. I'll try to get a pick up at some point to verify that it does, indeed, exist as well.
HamerCustomEr Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Transformers... robots in disguise! Good luck with the sale.
LucSulla Posted March 17, 2023 Author Posted March 17, 2023 Going to bump this. I'd do this for $1k shipped CONUS w/PayPal Gift or Venmo. It's a great amp, but I have too many things that are roughly in this same vein to justify keeping it.
LucSulla Posted March 23, 2023 Author Posted March 23, 2023 Taking offers. I'd much rather move this here than Reverb if at all possible. Yes, the transformer is one more piece of gear, but they are cheap. If you've been interested in trying one of these out, here is a chance to snag one practically new for as cheap as you can get one now that Marshall laid the ban-hammer on Thomann and other Euro dealers.
Jakeboy Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 @LucSulla, not to hijack, but did you make out ok during the tornado outbreak this past weekend? GLWTS…..great price on a great amp..

GLWTS…..great price on a great amp.. Yep! The one that was headed our way either never materialized or touched down. That cell did pass pretty close to the house though because I got some hail right around the time it was predicted to be down the road, but luckily enough, no twister. About all I have for protection is hiding under a bunch of Norlin-era Gibsons in the bathtub. Poor folks down in Rolling Fork though... that place is about half wiped off the face of the Earth.
JGale Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Fellow they interviewed said he saw two funnels in close proximity. Weather radar showed 12 of them active. Y'all hear me bitch about storm surge .. I cannot imagine the horror of a Tornado. #FUCKNO!
LucSulla Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 $800 for an 800. I really don't want to move this on Reverb unless I just have to.

Screamin' deal for a screaming amp, Jason. Unfortunately, I'm hankering the SV20 much more than the SC20, and while that will likely require a few hundred more dollars than the deal you're offering here, it's ultimately the tone I'm seeking. Now...for those players who want legit '80s hard rock nirvana, this SC20 is a no-brainer.

The gain on the SV20 comes on quickly and gets pretty savage. Personally, I dig it, but I can see some people thinking it sounds a little more "modern" than what you'd expect from a plexi. The SC20 feels more like other 800s I've played. Arguably a better pedal platform too if you'd like to dial in something cleaner and do the heavier lifting on gain with a pedal.
