Jimbilly Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 At a relatively small dinner/jazz place in Seattle, Dimitrios Jazz Alley. Tickets were relatively very cheap, - I thought I chose a great table, but ended up with a great view of the big tom, - but a good view of the sax and guitar players. Excellent fusion band (if you're into that sort of thing), Simon did the obligatory drum solo, which was fantastic, we could almost see him through the head of that big tom. I got a CD signed, he seemed very kind/gracious, and really happy to be out playing again, I also spoke briefly to Ernest Tibbs, he was out among the dinner tables afterwards, also very nice and friendly. The guitar player Alex Sill was reportedly playing a Kiesel. They're flight was late, and they were still doing some sound check as we ordered dinner, that was a nice surprise. A couple of photos for y'all, including Alex's pedal board (which went into a twin looking fender).
Steve Haynie Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 As many albums that I have with Simon Phillips on them I would have to go see him if he came around my area.
gorch Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 It‘s always nice to see him play. I saw him with a project band called PSP 10+ years ago. Still have that CD and listen to it frequently.
Brooks Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I dig Simon & Protocol! Andy Timmons on this one; PSP too;
