diablo175 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Thinking of putting a trem stop on my Les Paul Axcess and hoping some on here might have some insights and suggestions. Already aware of the commonly seen varieties- Tremol-No and Floyd Rose' Tremolo Stop Lock. Just never used one.
cmatthes Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I use the SuperVee version in a few Strats and it works great.
Tommyvee Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I use both the tremol-no and stop lock. I set my trems up to be dive only. I prefer the tremol-no, no need to screw anything to the body, but it’s a longer process to install it. I like to keep the trem cavity cover on, so I make sure that there is enough clearance with the tremol-no installed. I use the stop lock when clearance is an issue. I don’t use the thumb screws on the tremol-no, just the set screw on what they call the Deep C to set it up for dive only. I install EVH D-Tuna’s on my floyd trems, so both get the job done to allow that to work properly.
scottcald Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I dislike the stop lock. It's simple enough to put in, but the set screw clanks against the block if you have a goodly amount of gain. I've seen Adam Riever's video where he puts 2 squares of gaffer's tape to quell the noise, but to me that just seems like it's not fully thought out. I've also tried the black box because it has a small rubber piece on the end. You can still pull up, but you feel some resistance and you can have a D-Tuna. It's more of a pain to get in though. https://www.fu-tone.com/product/tremolo-black-box/
