I don't know anything about that, but the drummer sang it and it was REALLY well done.
-
In all fairness, the lighting issue was the house (JAXX), not ACE's crew. I think that once he gets some shows back under his belt, things'll be fine. The band is damned good.

Tonight's setlist at JAXX: Rip It Out (Ace blew the vocals a few times out of the gate and there was a big miscue from the band after the second verse, but they picked it up. He looked a little shaken at first) Hard Times ( a couple more missed shots at the mike ) Parasite (rocked) Snowblind I Want You (Great vocal by the drummer!) Rock Soldiers (My cue to take a piss) Shot Full of Rock Into the Void Breakout Stranger in a Strange Land Strange Ways (Anthony Esposito sang, Ace air whammied) Strutter NY Groove (yes, the lightup Les Paul!) Gimme Shelter (cover, no vocals) Shock Me (Ace's solo was WAY overextended because the pyro/smoke in the Les Paul wouldn't catch for a long time. After it ended, and the house spotlight guy didn't get the clue and blew the strobe/fog effect, Ace grabbed the mike and said "Well that SUCKED!", but pulled it together and went into...) Rocket Ride <Encore 1> Deuce Love Her All I Can Love Gun <Encore 2> Cold Gin Black Diamond Outro Got to sit and shoot the bull at the adjacent Chinese restaurant with Greg, Skeez and the ever-lovely Nitebob prior to the show - lotsa laughs, stories and photos! (I owe somebody a pink drink ) Thanks again gang! There were some rough patches, but it was loud, fun and well, it was ACE. Too tired to do a more detailed review right now...the band was young, but VERY strong!

--> QUOTE(David B @ Dec 28 2007, 05:15 PM) ← "Stranger In A Strange Land" doesn't need to be there either. Yeah, if he wants to play that one now He's gonna have to play without an Ace in his deck!!
-
Replace "Rock Soldiers" with "2000 Man" (or even "Do Ya"!) and It'll be perfect!
-
It's a tie for Ace between that one and "Torpedo Girl". Ugh!
-
That is great to hear.

I'll be at the JAXX show tomorrow night - already got my tix. Ace was one of the two players who inspired me to play. Like him or not, he DID get a lot of kids into picking up a guitar. My first nice guitar was an "Aceburst" LP Custom (now my 3-pickup Blue Sparkle) that I slaved and scraped for. Many of us are still hacking away 30 years later thanks to that guy, no matter what he's done or what his low points have been over the years! I hear his newfound sobriety is supposed to be having a very positive impact on his playing. He always brought much-needed humor to the dickwad Gene $immons in interviews ("Awk!!"). I'll be sure to post a review post show... Jaye - you going?!?!

Damned Irish Bars and their Irish bartenders!!

I've got to call you...no I don't...yes I do...no I don't...yes I do... (aw, crap!)

I also dislike the ones that lay out exactly how much they've put into it (since scoring it on eBay recently for a few hundred less than the current listing). You know, stuff like: "Completely disassembled, cleaned, polished, reassembled, then had <insert name of local luthier or tech here> do a complete setup and put on a new set of <insert string brand here>...Put an additional $400 into the guitar getting this done." Not valid in my book - 99% of the people who buy something used get the instrument set up, tweaked, change pickups, whatever. Not something most people view as a legitimate add to value. If you are simply looking to flip something at a profit (which is your right), cut the BS. I DON'T CARE!

My little old grandmother actually bought a GTO brand new off the lot in '69 when my grandfather died. She truly only drove it once or twice a week for almost 20 years - to the store, to church and to her garden club meetings. She did take it on one long trip - when she moved from NJ to SC. That was one way. She was the living used-car cliche! Other auction favorites of mine: +1,000 on Devnor's above - if it is the best of all the ones you have, why are you selling THAT ONE?!?! "I don't know much about guitars, but this one seems to work" "I'm selling for a friend who doesn't have a computer" Also - my favorite is when a seller (male) pretends to be female, as in his wife, gf, etc. when selling gear. Why is it that there is an assumption that the 95% male guitar buying market is going to be instantly smitten by a nameless, faceless internet vixen and somehow be more forgiving when a box of crap shows up at their door? To quote Elduave...PLEASE!

That kind of response/reaction just CONFIRMS to me that the guy knows he's in the wrong. Sounds oddly familiar...

Agreed about Elderly and "overgrading". I bought a Gibson Vee from them in '86 that was advertised as "N. Mint". I guess I should have made sure that they didn't mean "Not Mint" - it was what I'd consider very good or possibly a 6.5 out of 10. When I called them to ask what the deal was (same guy who described it to me over the phone - this was way before the internet), he said I shouldn't complain because I got it for a really good price. I sold it a couple of years later with no regrets.

That's cool. Grohl is awesome.
-
I want THAT one!!
-
I REALLY like that - what is that finish called?
-
Agree there too! Brad Whitford = JPJ
-
That is definately true. It's one reason why he's hard to copy, because of all the nuances (mistakes). I did hear one guy who really had it down. He nailed it, mistakes and all. Ken: Who was that, Slash or Joe Perry? Actually, that's one of the things I really LIKE about the playing of all three of the above. Pagey probably screws up/is sloppier than both of the other guys, but when he's on, he's great. It's always been kinda funny to me that he made his name as a session guy too, because he sure never seemed to be that precise of a player. I also FULL-ON agree with McChris above. I greatly admire JPJ as "the man behind the curtain" in that band, but Page and Plant really made it happen with the record-buying/ticket-buying public. The Jason Bonham comment was priceless, btw.

Just caught some clips on the NBC Evening news... Looks better than Jack thought?

PLEASE DO!

The first time, I sent photos of what I had in mind. The tile came back and I said that I wanted a touch more blue in it, and it came out exactly as I had envisioned: The second time, they got it perfect after a few tries:

That's how Hamer does it with custom colors - you'll get the test piece in to your dealer to approve/sign off. You return it and voila, your custom order is underway in the finish of your choice perfectly matched. They wouldn't want to get a customers custom order done and it be the wrong color. I got 2 or 3 samples with my Caddy Green M3 (one was more like a vintage, faded example and the other was more olive metallic, like my old GTO). They got it perfect in the end.
-
I had a couple custom colors done that Hamer just nailed in the final product. Elduave was extremely patient with me through those!

Does trans green float your boat?
