Not sure if you're local to DC or not - I've been in Alexandria Music/Acoustic Axis and they do have some Hamers in stock - some nice ones too (Art Ult). Steve from AA used to post here a few years ago, but I haven't seen him around here for a long time. If you're in the area, I'd recommend checking in with Elduave from this board at Rocketeria Music in Rockville, MD - a few minutes away from Alexandria (well, unless you go during Rush Hour!).

A few years ago, I saw a really great local band cover "We Didn't Start the Fire". The singer changed the lyrics to his grocery store shopping list. The next time I saw them, they did it again, and he read off the NBC evening lineup for the week. The second time he only got halfway through before he had a laughing fit, the drummer fell off his stool and they had to stop. When he recovered, he proclaimed that to be the absolute worst song ever recorded and the entire place went NUTS with applause and cheers. That song totally EMGs.

If I recall correctly, this was posed on the Board a few versions ago. The word that I remember was that according to Hamer, this is not a covered warranty issue. It is cosmetic rather than structural, and is not a material defect. My memory has clouded a bit in my advancing years, but that's the way I heard it. This was also not a member speculation issue - this was direct from an authorized representative or the company.

I only have it present on a '95 guitar and it came new like that. Doesn't bother me, but I can see how it would annoy some people. I also don't think that's a warranty issue.

Okay, Elduave - you KNOW I'm not talking about that LP I was checking out last night at Rocketeria. That is definitely a nice one, and I'd pay the full freight for a LP like that one!

Hey Buck Dharma: I'm talking about MAP Prices. I don't know of any dealer I've bought from selling Hamers at MAP. Dealers typically discount from that too - that's just the minimum price that they are allowed to advertise. The selling price for the Hamer I bought from Dave's 10 years ago was less than the marked (not list) price. Like anything in life, you need to ask. Hamers are STILL a far better deal than most LPs, and if you buy ANYTHING based on resale you're probably going to lose money. I wouldn't give you $1,200 for more than half of the LPs I've played recently - many of them are simply crap compared to a lower-end of the line Hamer. At any rate, I don't give a hoot about resale - that's not why I buy guitars. If you're shelling out $3,000 for a Hamer, that's custom order territory. You can buy a POS production LP for that price and you're in line with a few thousand other bozos with the exact same average guitar.

MAP is $2,349 for the stock model. If there's a top upgrade, take it to $2,749. Not sure if there's a bound headstock or anything else, but factor that in. It should sell for the mid to upper teens, as Silentman mentions.

To me it is not a big stretch, but I COMPLETELY respect their decision to not build it. As Steve (Phoenix) pointed out above, it is not about who you are or how much money you have, it is about what HAMER decides is within their direction, current means, etc. to build. THAT is the real deal. Like it or not, a Chap doesn't fit any of these for the company right now. This is not a case of your dealer lying to you, Hamer lying to you or the Man in the Moon lying to you - they simply are not building Chaps now! How exactly did they lie to you if they just said "No" ?? This is not a conspiracy against you... (Edited because I went over my HFC-mandated Exclamation Point Limit)

Dave's has been a Hamer dealer for a long time. I bought a Standard from Dave in '95 when they re-issued them. I wasn't aware that they may have lapsed, but they always have had Hamers around.

Rob: Actually, I've tested that one no less than 5 times in the last few years. I know of at least ONE thing that they won't do (that they have done before). Apparently, there is no amount of money that will change their mind right now. I've said every time that cost is not an object, and can back it up with the green. It is just not something they are interested in doing at this time. I can respect that, but will still keep trying...

Conspiracy theory. I highly doubt that they made one, and if they DID, it would have been for much more than what Jack has deemed a "fair" price. Just my opinion - not based on facts. I think Rick was pulling your leg, Jack.

I think somebody was probably having some fun at Jack's expense. Hamer has not made a set-neck Chap in the last 2 years that I am aware of. Take it easy...exhale...count to 10...!! I have no idea why that would have been deleted unless the poster (or a complainant) specifically asked to have it removed or hit an alert or something. Ya got me.
