"Get Over Yourself" Guitar Solos

Along those lines, add "Million Miles Away", by the Plimsouls, "September Gurls" by Big Star and "Starry Eyes" by the Records. -
"Get Over Yourself" Guitar Solos

FYI, I'm pretty sure Larry Carlton did not play on Kid Charlemagne. The guy who did was profiled in Guitar Player magazine sometime in the last 10 or so issues, but can't remember his name offhand. IIRC, this came up in another thread here as well. I have been known to mix up my Dan guitarists ( ), but I think L.C. actually DID play that solo. -

"Get Over Yourself" Guitar Solos

Forgot about The Dan. Denny Dias' solo in "Rikki" is another classic (at least I thought it was DD). Jon Brion's solo in "Same Thing" from the Grays' "Ro Sham Bo". Hits right where it should. Rick Witkowski's solo in "Hot Razors" (Crack the Sky) J. Mascis' solo(s) in "Out There". Talk about falling down stairs and landing on your feet - he's the master of that! -

Where's it going and how to we get it?

Here's a pic I snapped a few weeks ago when that one was still just "parts": Those are surprisingly cool guitars - perfect for taking along anywhere with you. -

Yes. They are molded (somewhat softer) plastic, solid opaque black with a microscopic "HAMER" logo on the inside. -
Nomination for next year's Super Bowl Halftime show
cmatthes replied to jwhitcomb3's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Ringo would never work. Especially in the wake of Macca's recent (excellent) Halftime performance. Starr has fallen flat on his face lately. That latest single about being from Liverpool was more unlistenable than even his worst songs over the last 25 years. Kind of his lame version of the very lame "We Didn't Start the Fire". This coming from a Beatles fan too... -
I met Vinnie back in the Summer of '91 when I was bartending (at the Delaware beach area). Couldn't have been a nicer, more humble guy, and seemed shocked that I even recognized him. A few hours after he and his party left, he came running back in and gave me a couple of his personalized guitar picks. That's a really cool shot, Gene! You guys never seem to have any fun down there .

Van Halen Charlottesville, VA Postponed
cmatthes replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Three total - two last week and I think one in October. For some reason, I seem to recall it being in MO (St. Louis maybe?). It was around a week or so before I saw them in DC, because I remember getting that brief flash of "Oh crap, they couldn't hold it together long enough for me to see 'em again!". -
Van Halen Charlottesville, VA Postponed

The sound in DC was excellent from my vantage point. In fact, it was one of the better shows I've seen in a few years and I'm a frequent concertgoer. I saw Genesis and the Police within 2 weeks on either side of VH in the same venue, and VH blew the other two away in every respect. I'm going to the Bawlmer show with my 13-year old, so hopefully that won't be postponed. He'd be crushed. Anybody find out what the "official" explanation was for the postponing? -
That is the way an insurance contract is SUPPOSED to be written!

OH WHAT THE HELL......FAVORITE VH ALBUM
cmatthes replied to harry65's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Damn. I HAD to put on the entire VH catalog tonight as I was doing stuff around the house with the kids. VH II is still a STRONG album. I got into VH when that album first came out...it still gives me goosebumps to listen to some of that stuff. To me as a 12 year old listener, they just seemed to be having a lot more fun in the studio than most bands I listened to at the time. My youngest son was sitting next to me earlier tonight when "Outta Love Again" came on and he said, "Dad - that's the best song I know". When "Spanish Fly" came on, he said "Now THAT is good - that guitar playing". He's my little drummer, but the kid's got taste! -

I'm also torn, but slight edge to VH1. VHII also a classic. -
Okay, not me, but SOMEBODY here has "the look"... There's a "zone" thing going on here though:
-
Obviously you've never had a four-digit Standard arrive broken. There are few feelings worse than that!
-
I couldn't disagree more. I think that the new headstock is elegant and cool. Way better than the '90s "paddleheads" IMO. As much as I prefer the look of the 4-digit Standard headstocks, I've seen (and own) my share of broken headstocks with that design. The newer version is just better structurally.

I've already sent Peter my check for $500. I didn't realize that was just to get him to TALK about the Electraglide... :0

Stevie: I knew about the Tangerine Prototype with the Dan Armstrong head, but for some reason thought it had a P-90 at the neck - obviously I was mistaken! Very cool stuff. The other guitar you're talking about was (IIRC) a double-bound Blitz in Tangerine sparkle. I remember when that one was for sale - I think that goes back to @'87 or so. Jeez. Ask me if I can remember what I did this morning!!
-
DMK, LI. Uh, well, it's a red one, has P-90s and I think it has a slightly thicker body. The owner (at least he owned it the last time I saw it) is a member here and may choose to speak on this. I'm not speaking for him because I haven't seen the guitar or a pic of it in many years.
