For the non passive, my favorites are the California Pacifics from the 80's. You can't get them any more. We used them in the 80's Guild electrics. S-280's and S-281's. My friend dangles a set in front of me once in a while. The volume balance between flipping back and forth on the toggle (Who uses the middle position anyways? That should be a string) with the pickups adjusted to the same height to string ratio, is outstanding. You go from scortching high leads (Through my 80's Rockman), flip and you have that awesome rhythm tone without a drop in volume. Where the hell am I? Bm

Bought a Hamer Sunburst in 1982. Didn't really know how to play yet. Didn't know anything about guitars. Kept bringing it back because it was out of tune all the time. Drove the guitar guy crazy at Caruso's Music in New London, CT. Ended up selling it. Years later I figured out that I didn't know how to apply even pressure with my fingers when fingering a chord. I was actually bending the chords out of tune by pushing too hard with a finger or two. Dumbass. Bm
