  1. FWIW, MILFS are cool. Funny you should ask, I tend to leave my guitars on rack stands, always fearing the big one but thinking "probably not today". Fortunately those flimsy stands held up but I'm not rolling the dice anymore! Pictures or it didn't happen. Glad you got through it OK, though. I'll have to post those Channel 7 breaking news photos in the Outer Circle!
  2. Thanks! We are about 15-20 miles from the epicenter. Scared the heck out of us but in retrospect it was kind of funny seeing all of the neighborhood MILFS out in the streets in their skinnies! Our only damage was our large bathroom mirror that came off the wall. No idea how it didn't fall and shatter. Many others unfortunately were not as lucky.
  3. Awesome, congrats! Looking forward to the tone report.I almost sold my EM Tally a while ago. Fortunately no one bought it before I came to my senses. I put a set of Throbaks in and it has become one of my favorite guitars. It is definitely safe from elimination.
  4. No affiliation. Looks great! http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1455977
  5. I know the Tally does not have a true Fender scale... The Tally isn't a true Fender scale? My bad, scale is a bad word to use. Probably should have said feel because of the 14" radius and use of HBs. One thing about that spec sheet is that I have a hard time believing that it is .95 at the nut. Does not feel huge and I have played soft Vs that are smaller at the nut and feel bigger than the Tally. I'm going to have to measure one of these days.
  6. Oh, you mean like Jeffrey Dahmer or Hanibal Lector bad? I do like me some chianti but it was just a typo! Thats what I get for listing at 1:00 am.
  7. Thanks. I totally agree about the EM Studio, and not just because I am selling it. Something has to go and I'm a Fender guy at heart. Last time I tried to sell the Studio I made the mistake of playing it before I listed it. This time I'm not touching it. The Lollars transformed it into a great instrument. I played a Newport with the Seths and it sounded good. Not so much in the Studio IMHO. I don't know about you, but the BRW board on my Studio is darker and tighter than my Tally. Just looks and feels like a superior grade piece of wood and is one of the ingredients to what makes the instrument great. You can kind of see the difference in the pics above. Ugh, eye on the prize, must sell!
  8. Edited to say: Sold to Roshark. Glad it stayed in the family and a great guy to boot! Guys, I've got to break up the kids. I'm selling my Earthen Maple Studio #20 with OHSC and COA. Near mint condition with a solid 9.5 out of 10. I can't find any blemishes but am still calling it near mint since its not new. I would like to sell with the Lollar Low Wind Imperial HBs in place and of course I will include the stock SDs. I would like to clear $2,650, which I think is a good deal. I would consider putting in the stock Duncans and excluding the Lollars to get the price down to $2,300. However, the LW Lollars sound fantastic in this guitar and I strongly urge keeping them in there. The Brazilian board is delicious and it plays like, well, like a Hamer. 9. Couldn't agree more. If you guys decide to band together and would make a T style guitar, count me as an official pre-order! I am serious about that!
  10. I feel sick to my stomach reading this. Wishing the best for you guys and your families. You have provided countless people with immeasurable joy and hope that it is returned in the future x10. I believe that good things happen to good people and while I don't know any of you guys personally, my gut tells me that you are all good peeps.
  11. Don't know if its helping or hurting. Contains some bare skin. The add says: Used: An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Strat-1969-Teal-Green-Metallic-rebuilt-copy/171254388531?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.RVI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20635%26meid%3D5162839471652581516%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D9200%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D151243797679
  12. This is a topic that I find myself pointlessly debating every day with a buddy of mine. He is constantly trying to disprove the law of "you get what you pay for" and spends an ungodly amount of time and money chasing the brass ring of tone with cheap foreign guitars. Thats all good and fine, except when he tells me they are "as good as..." just before they go on Ebay. I just told him that Two Buck Chuck tastes fine, its got all of the same ingredients as a fine wine and is perfectly drinkable. Just don't start comparing it to my Silver Oak and we are fine! Its uncanny that builders like Nik Huber and Scott Lentz "get lucky" as often as they do. There are many things in life that are over rated. For me, that list does not include cuban cigars, boutique guitars and women with a firm round booty!
  13. I had a good year. This year should also be good in terms of quality. Quantity will be way down. Planing on purchase retirement in 2015 Jason Smith Masterbuilt Tele EM Talladega EM Studio Asher Ultratone Custom T Deluxe Luttrell CO SS1 Forgot some stuff: Matchless Avalon 30 combo Swart SST, Head and cabinet LA Sounds Stereo pedalboard
  14. This thread is way more fun than the buy no guitar thread! I'll take delivery of a Lentz Reserve Strat in the spring. Working on a Collings SoCo. If its a good year I'll try to get any Huber (other than a 1 pup model). If its a really good year, I'll try to buy anyyhing Django posts for sale!
  15. I'm focusing on a CO right now, but a Hollowbody is on my list for next year. Please PM me if/when you want to take it live.
  16. No Earthen Maples in this lot? Is there something special on the horizon? If so, I can hardly wait to see what's cooking.
  17. I can't wait to see what shows up after these are gone! Good luck with the sale.
  18. Congrats, two beautiful guitars! I just had the same revelation when I purchased my Korina EM Studio. It is the most resonant and warm guitar I own. Will be difficult to go to a mahogany body from here.
  19. I would say the only time it is reasonable for someone to request anything near market value would be if they were taking it on trade and the guitar being purchased had decent profit margin. I recently traded up with one of the "big guys". They gave me full retail for my ES 335 and I bought a higher end guitar that they had in inventory for a while.
  20. I had a little room left over, so I had him put in the Echorec, since he had one in his shop. It is a very rhythmic delay. I was thrilled when I dialed in the PF Run like Hell setting. It also works very well with the El Cap to produce some very spacious sounds in stereo. The Hartman is my favorite flange. Ideal for nailing those Andy Summers and David Gimour tones.
  21. That Monaco Super Pro makes me want to surprise my wife with a trip to Europe! I assume "Beendet" means closed? Can you tell if it sold or just ended. That one has me saying, hmm...
  22. The Boss looper on the board is not buffered or true bypass. I had Dave build a buffered loop switch that allows it to be taken out of the signal chain when it is not engaged. While a useful tool, I was never happy with it on my board because it was just too noisy for my taste. The custom interface is buffered and has an A/B/Y switch that allows me to switch between two amps or play both. The buffered interface is the first and last thing in the chain. The time based effects are wired in stereo but can also be played in mono. I could not agree more with the if you think its fine, it is fine theory. There are many who really enjoy playing with different pedals, power supplies, cables, buffers, etc. I am not one of those guys, which is why I sent it off to someone who is one of those guys. The goal was to get my tinkering time down to 10% or less and so far it is mission accomplished. To my ear it sounds as good through the board as it does when I am plugged straight into the amp. I have never been able to say that even with two pedals on the board. I'm sure that is due to "all of the above" in its construction.
