Mahogany Standard for sale
kizanski replied to woodpile's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
"...used to be mine,' as the song goes. That's a ONE PIECE Mahogany Standard, my friends. The Rios were MADE for that bighonkin' hunk of mahogany. A steal! -
Hey, everyone has a talent. You should see me jump to conclusions!

"Hello, Employee Relocation? Yes, I'd like to know if there are any other locations that you could relocate me to that would be more suitable for my guitar playing hobby. Yes, and I will also need the names of surrounding schools for my three kids. Oh, and my wife is going to need a new job as well. Oh yea, and they're ALL going to need new friends. Can you line that all up for me? I really need to get out playing with a band again. I wanna get THE BAND back together!"
-
So, he (an adult) should uproot his wife and three kids (and himself) for the prospective good of his hobby? Sounds reasonable. Nashville is a good suggestion, too. It's not like there are a lot of musicians there for him to compete with.

...and this one??? -
Funny you should say that. After I received the HEMIBIRD, I started thinking about what I should do next. I came up with the Bandit V (available in black & gold, of course):

Oh God. I'm so turned on right now. -
Balls like church bells, you're damn right! My idea for the HEMIBIRD came about on a plane ride (from the Robin factory in Houston, as it turns out) as Greg and I flipped through car magazines and listened to Ricky2 attempt to down the plane with his snoring. I have never had such a positive experience with a guitar order (and this is not anti-Hamer driven in any way, just me being completely honest) and Phil Amato and the rest of the GMP clan were very receptive to my ideas. In fact, as I worked out the details, the "Why's" and the "No's" that I expected to hear were instead very positive and even eager responses. They couldn't wait to spray a Firebird Hemi Orange and slap big HEMI graphic accross the front of it. It was a very rewarding experience to sit down at my PC with my favorite graphics program and end up with a design that would eventually grace one of my guitars; making it a truly custom and personalized piece. Obviously, I did not "design" the HEMI logo, but I had to alter and shape it so many times as well as actually turn the hockey stick stripe upside-down and point it in the opposite direction (compare it to the graphics on the Hemi cars and you'll see what I mean), that it was completely different, while still looking very familiar. Sure, I would have preferred a six-in-line headstock, but you can't have everything. When I actually received the guitar, I was shocked at how much the actually object looked like my "artist's" rendering. Had I Photoshop-ed the electronics properly, there would have been no difference in the digital version and the wooden one. The Muse laughed his ass of when he saw the guitar and told me how ridiculous he thought it was. I'm sure he meant it in a good way (yea sure - lol), but that was the whole point in the first place. And speaking of wood; I certainly got my money's worth. This is a heavy guitar. It's all mahogany and weighs about as much as a Pontiac Firebird, but it's two tons o'tone, let me tell you. The body is thick (nothing like the Gibson version) and the neck is monstrous. I would say that it's "Like a bat," but that wouldn't do it justice. It's more like a drive shaft. Add to that the jumbo frets, and it is the hugest neck I have ever seen or played on any guitar. Ever. Even the neck on the '54 Reissue Les Paul that I traded Badger Dave recently was not as large. The guitar is a monster, and not for the meek. I'm just glad I got it before they went under, as I think it was one of the very last guitars completed and shipped.

Does my wife hate my guitar playing?
kizanski replied to MTM105's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
My Wife said that my playing had a lot of promise. "Promise you won't play in front of me." -
Yea, no kidding.

Piling on! Serial knows this one quite well...

Way cool.

Wow, what are the odds?

Dude, put your pants back on before you scare away Ginger and Mary Ann.

I can't stand Hammy Sagar. He sucked all of the "rock" out of that band. He was a rocksucker!

Gotcha covered, Matthes.

This is supposed to help hurricane victims?
kizanski replied to Nuclear Wessel's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well, here is the point as I (a Yankee) see it. 1st: The guitar is either ugly or cool. That much is one's opinion. What is FACT, however, is that it is a waste of a pretty ass piece of flamed maple. Can you imagine that with an expertly applied sunburst? 2nd: I don't know how many of these they plan to sell or how much dough they think they'll raise for them, but I question how much of that money (as The Muse has already put it) will actually get to the very people that it is supposedly being raised for. JeffR suggested that if Gibson really wanted to put instruments in the hands of musicians who lost their gear (and livelihood) thanks to Katrina, they should load up a semi with Les Paul Studios, park it on the corner (pronounced kah-nah) of Decatur and Canal Street and distribute them. No one could find fault with that, and I think they'd allow the Edge to help them hand them out. 3rd: NO ONE in New Orleans plays a Les Paul. It's all Strats. Strats, Strats, and more Strats. Sometimes a Telecaster, but their usually from out of town (probably about 45 minutes south). -
