  1. Folks, I think we have a winner!
  2. That's a beaute! Love the subtle flame on the spruce!
  3. Jet Screamer SLAYS!
  4. A year already! Damn the years have been flying by lately! As for the pickups, they're regular ol' Duncan '59's. Tone IS in the fingers after all, eh, Serial?
  5. Ahh. Shablotniks then? Poe doesn't leave the Shlabotnik's in the guitars that he sells. That would be foolish, since they are so hard to get.
  6. No, you're not that old, but 100 guitars is probably a conservative figure. Add a zero and we might be close. You're kidding no one Matthis! The pickups in your Vector came out of the Vector that is now Jersey Drew's (the one with Victory inlays). The pickups don't have gold pole pieces because I changed them. Mystery solved.
  7. LOL! 100 guitars in 25 years?! I think you left off a zero.
  8. My Vector is 1.75". It's only a 1/4" difference, but it's a lot when you compare the two.
  9. ...and it isn't just a little bit thicker - it's A LOT thicker. I think it's a half inch thicker than the Gibson. It's LP Junior thickness, vs. "SG" thickness (which the Gibson V is). What makes the whole "korina is hard to come by" argument even more lob-sided is that Hamer's up charge for korina is very reasonable, when compared to Gibson’s entry level Korina Historic V's and Explorers. The prices that Gibson charges for these guitars is nothing short of obscene, but I guess they know what they're doing, becasue they sell every one of them. I've played a few Gibson Korina V's. Are they great guitars? Yes. Are they better than the Hamers? No - not the ones that I have played. I have criticized Hamer for many things, their up charges for the most part, but in the case of their Korina Standards and Vectors, these guitars are bargains at twice the price.
  10. The most obvious difference is the body thickness. The body of the Hamer is much thicker than that of the Gibson. They still manage to make them feather-weights in spite of this, however.
  11. That's just the tip of the iceberg, Eidelberg.
  12. Sorry El... I didn't feel it. If I want emotional energy, I'll watch General Hospital. Different strokes I guess, but I'm not a fan of 95% of the artists that were on that stage (nor was I a fan of Harrison, so there you go). I do agree with you about one thing though: You're right about my "Mini Matthi" line. That WAS funny!
  13. There was energy in the room?
  14. Oh God! Mini Matthi!
  15. Thanks - It's simple, but it says it.
  16. No, they're both the briaded ground/single hot type.
  17. As long as Hamer insists on using covered humbuckers and black rings, it will be a requirement. Which reminds me: who wants to buy a like new matching pair of covered '59's w/black rings?
  18. While I still feel that only Supporting Members ought to be allowed to post items for sale on this forum, I hope you took away from what I wrote as complimenting the guitar (I did on several occasions in this thread and elsewhere) and that I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. Again, other than some bad timing, I don't feel that you did anything "wrong." I think that you just walked into a bee's nest concerning this particular guitar. Hell! I want it and I'm a righty!
  19. I have been giving this a lot of thought (yes, I know, I should have more important things to occupy my mind), and I think "Relicaster" is the unfortunate recipient of the irritation brought on by the prior thread where this guitar was posted for sale. As we already know, the "seller" (another newbie) posted the guitar, took forever to get photos to the several interested parties (in fact, never did), and then posted that the guitar was sold to a dealer. Enter the dealer, Relicaster, posting the guitar for sale for nearly twice what it was offered just a few days prior (the ebaY ad when first posted had a minimum bid of $2000, but was edited soon after). I can't imagine the circumstances under which he would be received well after that, but I think it's fair to point out that he's entitled to set the reserve amount in his auction to whatever he wants. It IS one of the cleanest, if not THE cleanest Sunbursts that I have ever seen, and I have yet to see another lefty Sunburst (outside of Elliot Easton's collection), so I can understand it if the leftys are a bit miffed. I agree the HFC members benefit from anyone being able to post an item for sale, but I think it is fair to point out that a newbie posting a Hamer for sale here would be doing so in the hopes that a group of Hamer lovers would pay more than most others for it, so in those cases the benefit would be for the seller. I have bought and sold many Hamers (and other brands of guitars) thanks to the members of this board. In all but one case I did so without hesitation, fully confident that I would receive what had been described to me when purchasing, and likewise typically send a guitar that I have sold to the buyer without waiting to receive payment. Why? Because I know those of you that have been here a while will continue to be here and are accountable. Given the history on this board of the airing of dirty laundry, imagine what would befall a regular setting out to stiff another on this board. Without any history here, when a "stranger" shows up and posts something for sale, they should expect to meet with some hesitation. So, in my un-Solomon-like way I can see both sides of the argument, but I still feel that WE as a community are protected when some accountability is set in place for one to post an item for sale, and therefore should only be permitted by Supporters. Of course, this being Ted's board and not "Kizanski's", you can just forget you read all of what I wrote above, because it has no bearing on anything.
  20. My Mahogany Standard (now Woodpile's) looks the same way. That's the way the natural mahogany looks in sunlight.
  21. Allow me to help out a fellow Robin Fan... The photos are LARGE, so instead of resizing them or posting them in their huge state, I'll have you click the links. It's better to see the details, anyway. Full frontal. Body front. Body back. A huge photo of a tiny ding. Looks like a beaute!
