SOLD: Hamer Eclipse 12-String
joshoowah replied to paul p's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Ok. Two entertaining ways to look at it: 1 - the ferrules line up with the "ideal" saddle intonation adjustment... riiiiight... 2 - It's proof of a handmade guitar! (Handmade with one of these - ) -
Lucked into a closet queen 6G2 Princeton with a bad PT 20 years ago. Got a transformer and speaker from Kendrick (the near perfect Oxford was dry and brittle, so out it came), and that thing has been a dream ever since - until it blew a fuse a couple months ago. She's overdue for some TLC. Haven't settled on a tech, yet. If there is one thing I wish everyone could experience in person about those brownies, it's the true physical wobble you feel with properly tuned bias trem, even with lower wattage and a single 10! And the warmth of that amp, at any volume setting, from whisper to roar, is just unmatched. You only need four knobs: Volume, Tone, Speed and Intensity. It's perfect.

WTB Monaco
joshoowah replied to Camstone's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I consulted The Book, and I have some questions. The Monaco is described as a hollow-body, with mahogany sides and back, while the Superpro is described as having routed chambers in its mahogany body. It isn't bent sides and separate back, so is there a difference in the chambering from the Superpro? Perhaps due to the Bigsby instead of stop bar, or differences due to the spruce instead of maple top? Definitely a new one for my dreamlist! Sexy! -
Little Wing, obviously.

I'm surprised no one mentioned "Changes," my all-time favorite "Wait... who is this?" shocking artist treasure. Most people probably know the covers better than the original, like Proud Mary or Respect. It's great fun seeing people react with "I never knew they had this in them!"

If you have even a passing interest in archtops, Blue Guitar, by Ken Voss, is a must! Scott Chinery, who commissioned the collection, was scum, but that book is pure luthier's porn. I also recommend Acquired of The Angels - an amazing history of John D'Angelico and Jimmy D'Aquisto's careers and legacies.

Because even in checkerboard, it wouldn't surpass "The Fool" '61 SG/Les Paul Custom, and if you can't even challenge a fool, it's best to walk away.
