The one I hate the most is "Lawsuit model" . They don't even know what this is about. For most if it's shaped like a Gibson or Fender and built in the 70's or early 80's they think they have a licence to use that term. It's like they think they can trick you into believing you're getting something much better than the original..

David E, Let's talk about about those drums I bought from you! Just kidding of course. I've gotten to the point I hate dealing on Ebay anymore. I've had two sour amp deals in the last couple of years combined with the bite that Ebay and Paypal take out, it's just not that mych fun anymore. I use it as a last resort.

I've been here since early 97' or late 96' with more than one or two screen names. As mentioned, there wasn't much going on early on. There was a period when it got pretty nasty here, all you had to do was say 'hi' and you would get flamed from multiple directions. It's my opinion that's when Hamer adopted a more hands off attitude to the board...as I said that's my opinion though. The boards evolve a lot since the early days... hat's off to Ted for sticking with it for all these years.

Anybody have any of these... ? Like em? I'm think of the V30 clones although I'm now seeing they have a Greenback version.

I wonder if it has more to do with single cut vs. double cut coupled with mass. I have a FM, Standard, SG and a LP. The FM and Standard sound very close and somewhat similar to the Paul. The Paul still has something that is different that is hard to put my finger on, a "roundness" the others don't have. The SG has more bite that any of the others. I also have a LP Special singlecut(not with the P100s) that sounds different from any LP doublecuts or Hamer Specials I've played. Like the Standard it's subtle but different. All the 24.75 humbuckers guitars sound so close it's probably not worth the worry, but I still like my LPs

Actually, I saw that driving down SR23 on my way home from Detroit. I was kind of hard to explain to the kids in the back of the minivan why that big car with no top had two drivers; one facing forward and one facing backward... Ahh.. the challenges of parenthood. There's a song there somewhere.

Actually we sing about teen angst..... making fun of it. We played with a bunch a teens one time and they had all the poor miserable me songs down. We looked at each other wondering what they had to be miserable about: No jobs, no pressure, good looking girls came to see them....What's the problem???? Us, on the hand... Mortgages, high pressure jobs...family resposibilities and worries... Ended up being good song writing material..

Met an old now out of town college buddy at his brother-in-law's gig on the weekend. The band does a 80's hair metal thing with a sense of humor... these guys are great players and nailed all the solos and vocal licks. The show was entertaining and even though I don't really dig the music that much I remember the songs and it was fun. What was strange was that I left the club feeling pretty sad... The whole scene was kind of pathetic in a way. There was a fight outside the bar, the crowd had a total loser element to it and I felt way to old to be there... I'm getting ready to get my old band going again and after this experience I just can't get enthused.. I just don't want to be the guy up there that people are saying "why doesn't that old goat call it quits" .

Gotta' respect that... Played a bunch of Mat's songs over the years.

Isn't that usually Satriani or Vai???? It seem like one of those two is always in every issue of GP somewhere.

I have a H535 and like it a lot.... It's won the "keeper' battle up against a Gretsch Setzer, Ibanez Artcore, Electra 2266(335 clone)... barely against the last two though.. The Artcore was a super guitar and not just for the money. The old Electra was a great guitar and it's one I wish I would have kept. The Electra's are hard to find and now start to appreciate in value. They are usually well made good playing guitars. There's been some talk of body thickness on 335 type guitars in other threads. The Electra 2266 and 2267 have the thinner bodies(1 5/8) like the Heritages, the Electra x410s etc have the 1 3/4 bodies like the new Gibson 335s. Makes me wonder when gibson made the change in thickness, th Electras were usually built before Heritage started building guitars.

Got em' both...cool band. The Judybats was another band I liked, same thing, got steamrollered by the whole Nirvana thing...

I haven't owned many (3) and I had problems with every one of them, I still think that was a fluke however. I've had them apart and they appear to be well built. I've never run across one that I've cared to keep or buy they always sound flat or boxy to me. I did use a Recto in the studio that tracked quite well however.

I've known a few of that type over years.... A number of them have had great chops, usually tons of speed but can't find time, dynamics or have any clue to what's going on other than what they are doing. Knowing how to play in a band is definately another aquired skill. The hardest thing in a cover band is playing those songs that you loath but work with the crowd.

The Replacements/Paul Westerberg... Not a lot of material but I have them all. I like the way Westerberg's writing evolved over the years.. I can't relate to a lot of the earlier stuff anymore but it's still fun to pull out once and awhile. I feel like I've musically have traveled a similar road except with less talent on my part.

Yep....those were the days.... I sure like not having my gear smell like smoke or having to chisel it off.. I've had guitars that have been exposed to smoke for so long it's gotten into the finish. Back to the point, David E is correct when he states a decrease in attendence. Not all clubs are recognizing the ban... We are supposed to play a place shortly and they have ashtray's out, the works and are blatently ignoring the law. I'm a distance runner and really do not enjoy the smoke. With that in mind I get a little annoyed when people have said "If you don't like it do go there"...well, true maybe, but that means I would never play out. I also hate to see gov't regulate anything and it's a shame it can't just be a courtesy thing.. Want to puff just go outside. In Ohio I thik it was the raising of the drinking age back to 21 that has helped kill the music scene.

If I sell my Standard I'll be giving you a call..... It'll be long gone by then I'm sure.

Paul, You running yours with a ext. cab... I'm thinking about buying a 50 watter and dumping off my Trace Speed Twin and possibly my Teefus modded C30. Any dealers in Columbus selling them so I can give one a test drive. I'm tired of pedals and trying to get a good boost blah, blah, blah

Mine's not so fancy... I have a Limited Colours Edition Standard with the smoked charchol finish over the plain natural top...in the 8-81/2 pound range... I was told they didn't make that many of them so true or not it's still a little different. I alway hear how something sounds just like a Paul... This one still sounds different than my other humbucker guitars.. I'll post a pic later.

I'm basically a big fan of 80's and early 90's alt rock but the first player tone who just knocked me out I would to say would be Billy Gibbons off the Fandango album.. There's been obviously others over the years but that was maybe the first time I noticed tone over style and technique.

Not always fashionable... It's funny when you show up a a gig with a 335 or Gretsch...people will go nuts over them.

85% there... Definately a humbucker/mahogany tone.. Sustain block Specials have the bridge pickup closer to the bridge which changes were the strings vibrate over the pup's. Body mass is obviously less... I think a Standard will get you closer... My Specials have all been lighter sonding than my Pauls... More beef than my SG's less than the Pauls. Both sound good in there own right and close enough in tone to satisfy most..
