  1. There is a difference between company interests and personal interest. Many people in charge, even politicians, are making decisions on a daily basis for company sakes but would never make the same decision for personal interest. Another aspect might fit here as well. Time changes anything. A decision whether good or not good made ten years ago might not be suitable today. As far as I understood the blog post, the Tele is not going to be a 16k guitar but rather a present to a neighbour guy that's related to the personal interests of that guy. In his blog Jol states that he liked to paint guitars mirror like for many years, but don't like to do anymore today. I am not saying Jol is perfect. I have never met him to feel allowed to make any personal statement. It is just response to what I am reading in the posts. With regards to Greg's business statement in this thread (I don't want to quote it here again), I think it is highly emotional and I have read it with great respect.
  2. Ebay still is the largest place to go. However, there might be a chance for another competing shooting star like Google passed Alta Vista and Yahoo some years ago.
  3. If he'd draw boomers in his sketch book gaggle would change ... seriously.
  4. Back to the start. I just bought one used UK made greenback for a reasonable prize. Bought a pretty nice Framus FR112 cabinet including a Celestion G12T 100 for an evenly reasonable prize. Swapped speakers and now sell the speaker that came with the cabinet. It couldn't be faster and easier as opposed to my trial to sell my Princeton Recording over many online places like German craigslist style Quoka and many gear forums. I wouldn't have made the two deals without the hassle of frequently searching a ton of gear forums and craigslist style pages. I have been tired of querying ebay lately, but now made two nice deals. With the deals I am very happy as I am firing the cabinet with the Princeton Recording now and enjoy great Princeton sound through 12''.
  5. It looks fairly luxury with the metal arrow plate at the bridge. Same with the price...
  6. I don't know if it applies to the US. But in our country, Ebay is loaded with lots of small mom and pop shops that maintain an online shop within ebay. First, it cost nothing to run a shop in ebay. Second, you widely extend your market presence.
  7. I hope you will have nothing left after recovery.
  8. Not my thing this time. I'd like to see it with a neck pickup for my current preferences. Still like to see what's possible at the moment.
  9. There is quite a lot of history information available about Hamer USA guitars. To me it looks like the Asian line, available for quite a long time now, appeared in various lines without further information in the sales chain. So, no one really knows what's about a certain line and what's not. The other day we had noticed that, although said to be discontinued at least in the US, Europe currently is flooded with new XT line models like Monacos etc.
  10. The print makes them look so nice that I hesitate to use them, actually. Any help available to come around this problem? I want to play better.
  11. Picks arrived last week already. I couldn't believe it made that fast over the pond. Many thanks Chris.
  12. Many thanks that you pointed me to the thread Geoff. I don't know how I could miss it. Since I know the song for a while it wasn't all new to me, but I must say that the video collage not just improves the song. I really had the impression it's been already part of the mp3 version I have on my mobile for so long. It all seems so natural. "Gut Ding will Weile haben!" PS. I took the German saying as the English saying describes the opposite, which would not do it right here.
  13. All great scores. Congrats!
  14. Happy Birthday guys.
  15. That's been a pretty nice discussion so far. Looking at the current model list, I'd say it spawns a large range of musical genres that's hard to be extended. The building quality had been improved over the nineties so that we agreed here in the forum that it is the best building quality Hamer ever had. To that extend even better than the 4-digits at their time. Hamer received many awards for its models introduced since Jol came back in. Whatever had been the true reason for Jol leaving if there had been only one, there is a potential that his job was actually done. It'll be interesting to see if the Talladegas can build on their already achieved vibe in the future in the same way the 80s models had built up vibe until today. To me it looks quite obvious that Hamer opened the workshop for vintage style orders at the moment. Since they had stopped building stock guitars for a while they would have to load up on custom orders to pay the builders in current market conditions. David B was right to take the step into custom orders at this time. It looks, from his comments, that even special orders seem to be achievable at the moment. Didn't we always argue that the list prices where made in heaven?
  16. I had a similar thought when I saw the pick. Maybe it is impossible to get it right with one shot.
  17. The invoice comes later.
  18. http://hamerworkshop.wordpress.com/2010/09...masterbuilders/ Another pretty nice thing in the making. There seems to be open borders now.
  19. It's missing a Schaller LP Trem though. Apart from that... ... it looks REALLY cool! Now it can compete with its rival, the Hamer Standard STD. I'm jealous. That's all.
  20. For whatever reason I changed pickups on all of my Hamers except the Tally. On some I extended the electronics. Other than that, I am very happy with the craftsmanship and sound. There is no need for a change though.
  21. That's really cool. Opens my heart when I see it.
  22. --> QUOTE(David B @ Aug 21 2010, 12:29 AM) ← Looking forward to getting this baby! Looking forward to more pics though.
  23. Nice weekend job. Keep on playing.
  24. Hamer Standard Custom as never seen before. I really like the rosewood peghead face combined with the coloring of the body. Exceptional!
  25. PM sent
