Jeroen Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Hey gang,I am as you might know using a Digitech RP3. I am changing banks for my leads, cause I want to have a delay in my lead sound. Problem I have is that I always have to use my volume pedal on my RP3 for leads and for going back...It remembers its last setting but that doesn't work well for me, cause I often change FX's in a song, like 3 different presets. My question. What is a good way to deal with this??? I was maybe another volume pedal or maybe there is something which will give your volume a boost ??Any ideas are welcome!!Thanks,Jeroen
anotherfreak2 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I use a Dunlop Mr Crybaby, it does volume/wah and it has a volume boost on the side via a little red kick switch, it has a knob to adjust the amount of boost. I think it is up to 9db but I can't rememberthe only downside is the boost only works on the clean side not on the wah side. so if you are using the boost when you hit the wah you loose your boost. It's one of my fav wahs.http://www.theguitarhouseonline.com/mypedals/mr%20wahs.JPG
Jeroen Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 bumpwhat kinda stuff is out there to boost volume?? I have a Dunlop Crybaby...only the usual modelJeroen
Nuclear Wessel Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I set up certain presets in my Rocktron Replifex with a little higher output volume and use those just for lead. I also recently got a Crybaby Q Zone, which is just a Crybaby wah without the rocker pedal. It's got a volume knob so I can send a little hotter signal to the amp to get some more gain for leads. But the main reason I got it was to add a gentle upper midrange boost when I kick it in. That makes the guitar stand out in the mix during solos without having to drastically raise its volume. Just raising the guitar's volume often actually wrecks the mix.
DavidE Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I use all pedals into a clean tube amp. I keep an RC Booster on all the time and use a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive with clean and drive controls at noon for a volume boost. Works great.
pesocaster Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 If all of your FX are in front of your amp (including your od) and you are just using the amp for clean power.... run a volume pedal before any delay or reverb but after any other effect ... crank the amp to your loudest "boost" level then ease back the volume pedal for your rhythms.....
formula73 Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I use the little red button on the side of my Dunlop 535 wah. The boost works with the wah on or off. Pretty cool.

It is very transparent...and with the gain backed off, yields an amazing clean boost that works wonders with the front end of an overdrive section of an amp.
FunkyE9th Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I use the guitar's volume knob. I usually have it around 7 and then for solos I go to 10.I also use compressor to pound the front end of the amp.-FunkyE9th
Jeroen Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 I use my guitars pickups mainly in the middle position, so the 2 Volume knobs are also working as a Tone regulation.Jeroen
backinit Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Compressor with a little extra volume dialed in. It helps "even out" the leads/solos.
Tres Aardvarks Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I just use an EQ Pedal set to boost. De nada.
Guest JackButler Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I use a Morley Little Alligator volume pedal...there's a knob that can be used to preset the minimum/maximum volume..so for me its used as a solo volume boast and I can solo using any preset patch off my pedal board.
Scottcrud Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I use two methods. 1. I put a EQ in my fx loop and pretty much just boost the mids a little and put the volume slider just a hair louder than my main signal. That's for a solo boost.2. I use a tube screamer with only the volume up all the way, tone and drive are on zero, this seems to tighten up the low end for me live. I tried this in the studio and it sounded like crap, in fact I ended up turning my gain on my Boogie 50 cal+ down from 10 to 8.
