HamStd Posted March 30, 2005 Author Posted March 30, 2005 Since I still can't figure out how to post multiple pictures, here is a back shot of the mirage I. You can see the "hameritis" on the back of the neck. doesn't look really nice, but it is cosmetic, you don't feel it on the neck. ThanksPeter.
Citrus Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Hey Peter,What is the neck shape like on these?Skinny, Chunky, medium??
BCR Greg Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Somebody buy this one and let me make a double triple coil guitar!!!!
HamStd Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 I would say the neck shape is "medium" to "chunky". It definitely doesn't feel like a 90's sunburst or studio. It has some wood to it. Not as big as some of the more recent hamers that I have played although I am not the best expert on those. Clearly when they did the blended heel on these, they shaped the necks different than the other models at the time. Not exactly a Watson but there aren't any other blended heel hamers out there unless you look in Phoenix's stable. This one smokes "as is" the way it is set up with the seymours. You can get nice strat tones with it and crank up the distortion and get nice humbucking tones with it too. Very versatile guitar on the tone front. Although i am sure a "Brianerry McInturfMay" conversion will be interesting too!Feel free if you have any questions or need other pics to drop me a line.Peter.
Kurt L Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Interested in a trade for a Studio Custom goldtop with P-90s? Otherwise, I'm still interested, but might not have the cash for a couple of weeks. In a hurry?
HamStd Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 Kurt: thanks for the response, the guitar is available so drop me a line if you get your funds together. BTW, love the Archtop GTs, unfortunately, I have two myself that are going to be up for sale so if anyone is interested, please let me know. Thanks Peter.
HamStd Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 Hi Chris: Dont' worry, when "That one" comes up on the block I know who to call and it ain't the "Ghostbusters". Keep you eyes peeled, same Hamer time, same Hamer channel.Peter.
Travis Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 For anyone who has never tried one of these guitars, they are amazing. The neck, to me, is a perfect compromise between the vintage and modern neck carves. It is meaty, but not too fat for those with small hands. They are incredibly versatile guitars and this is a good price for one. If I didn't already have one, I'd probably jump on it.
