F-Hole Duotone

Question

Hi All,

I have a line on an F-Hole Duotone, locally. It’s a rim burst color which I am not fond of but have talked the seller down to $1150. The case isn’t original but  nice, the guitar is very clean and comes with quality stereo cables.

Despite the used prices of Hamers  recently, this seems pretty reasonable. Am I missing something? Is this a deal I should jump on or an average price. Hard to sell them?? Outside of Hamer wish lists??

???

I am not up to date on the market, but suspect you will have trouble doing better price-wise, unless  you get a (lower quality) Korean made one. The unknowns for me would be whether it is all original (pickups are sometimes upgraded) and which version. Seems the later ones are generally perceived as having better acoustic tones.

If you are satisfied with the sounds and intend to keep and play it rather than worry about resale, seems reasonable (to me).

I have turned down much higher offers for my two, but then they are a bit out of the ordinary.....No intent here to sell either one.

If that’s a USA Duotone Custom (says USA on the face of headstock, arch top NOT flat top w/f-hole or 3-holes, bound, crown or victory inlays) 1150 is okay, price wise. With OG case would always be better, but ymmv.

Shoot me an email at thegeoffhartwellband at yahoo dot com. I’d love to see pics and know more deets about the gtr, s/n etc, happy to help if I can. 👍

I would jump on that deal in a heartbeat!  I have a three-holer that I love (it's in my avatar)!

Jeez Frank, jump all over that. You definitely won't lose money if you decide to sell.

In fact, just give me the guy's number. B)

Thanks all, for the thoughts on this one. I did grab it as it’s an arch top, f-hole model and pretty minty. 25 minute ride to pickup. It’s lightweight, plays great and figure I can always find a case. Pickups will more than likely be replaced with Gravelins. Haven’t had a chance to plug it in yet. image0.jpeg

Nice!

I'm with you on the color, though. Not a favorite, but the guitar makes up for it.

ETA: You know, Stike does a mean bass boat. Just sayin'. B)

Just my 2 cents worth.....If you are going to replace the pickups, at least consider having the 4 wire versions......If  you allow for the coils to be split, you add some extra great tones (IMO) that work well when blended with the piezo. Of course that means adding a push/pull or a separate switch. That is essentially what I did with the Gravelins that went into my Shishkov and it is one incredible (and versatile) guitar.
