What is the Daytona tremelo?

I think it's a wilkinson, but what model? Do people generally like it and feel it's a good unit?

Wilkinson VSVG.

Not sure if I qualify as 'people', but I felt like it was the weak link of those guitars, replaced with a Callaham & love it.

Others seem to be just fine leaving the Wilkinson on. I've seen past complaints about rattling in them, which I also experienced.

Ymmv.

Try one. If you're good with it, leave it alone. If not, changing it is relatively easy. The guitars are great.

I might be in the vast minority, but I actually like the VSV-G trems on my Daytonas.  Very smooth, doesn’t catch, and feels way better than any locking unit to me.  I know some guys with acid sweat who complain about the saddles oxidizing, but I haven’t had that issue.

SO glad I don't have acid sweat, I know  a couple guys... I learned that as much as I'd like to, I can't hand a guitar to either of them to try out even for a moment.

I've always liked the Wilky's. I like Floyd's too tho, they're just different. Never tried a Kahler, but it seems everyone hates those. Lol

+1, I like that the Wilky trem arm presses in as opposed to being threaded — I dislike the threaded arm on a Strat, hate ‘em swinging loose and they’re never tight where you want them to be. The unique bridge pieces on the Wilky are a bit harder to adjust, but it’s only necessary once unless one changes string gauge.

Not me, I love kahlers.. I think they sound amazing.. set them up once and that's it .beautiful engineering, and the string energy going into that solid engineering going into the guitar via that 3x4-in plate transmits so much energy and tone, I think it's better than a hardtail..

They look good, and I'd love to try one sometime. Fernando Von Arb rocked his Kahler equipped Scarab, and sounded great/looked cool doing it.

ETA: I don't understand all the hate either, unless its carving up a vintage axe to install one... That's dumb. But it seems to be almost a universal thing.

I have three early '80s hamers with these trems, and every time I pick one up I'm blown away by the tone and aliveness coming through that beautiful mahogany that's been aging for 40 some years
