BruceM Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Edited because I think this is Week 5, not Week 4! This is my last goldtop guitar...looks like I'm going to have to start shopping when this one's gone! This week's guitar is an Ovation Standard Balladeer 1861 which I purchased new from Groth Music about 10 years ago. I bought it on a whim because it played so damn well in the store, and because it had a stunning sparkly goldtop. It still plays and sounds great, and is very clean. It has seen very little playing time because within a year after buying it, I owned two Taylors, which both see frequent action. This guitar is very clean, and includes the OHSC. Price: $550 + shipping Feel free to email me at bemcbride4321 at hotmail dot com with any questions. Here's a few photos:
cmatthes Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Bruce:That one have the OP-24 pkg?I'm assuming so, but am not a total Ovation head (yet...)
tomteriffic Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Yeah Bruce. What electronics, if any?My wallet is vibrating.
BruceM Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Yes, this has the OP-24+ electronics package in it.
BruceM Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 bump for a very nice little sparkly goldtop. C'mon, this one needs to be played!
Steve Haynie Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I remember when Ovation made those available. They were a limited run, sort of. Ovation did some guitars with specs that were different from the rest of the line and made them available to small shops rather than the big chain stores. The goldtops were for the small stores. GC and others got their special runs, too, of course. Not promoted as a limited run, Ovation made about 200 or so in gold if I remember correctly. I would love to have the guitar, too. I just do not have the cash right now. Do you want a lap steel?
BruceM Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 Here's two more pics which demonstrate the sparkly goodness of this guitar. C'mon guys, I hate to see this one go back into the stacks!
