VIKING Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I'm interesting in finding someone who has an early '90s Impact Bass. If you have a four or five string version, I would appreciate an email. Thanks.
VIKING Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 Yes - very nice. Are you particularly tied to that machine or would you be willing to part with her.
LordOfTheThighs Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 marcnorth,That thing is kick-ass. I bet it slays. Iffin' I wasa bassist, I think one of those would be my top choice.
BadgerDave Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 In seven years of watching this board I have seen exactly one of those change hands.
quimby Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Ditto. I've lusted after one of those for 5 years now. The couple of times I've heard of one selling it's always been direct; i.e. never made it to the 'public arena'. I think the trick is to let everyone who owns one know you want one and constantly update your contact info with them. Didn't one sell in an Atlanta pawnshop for $200 a few years ago? It seems like that was the legend in 2001 or so. IIRC correctly one sold on e-bay for a ridiculous BIN a couple of years ago (I could be confusing the stories).
marcnorth Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Someone here got a black one off of ebay last year for $175. It wasn't listed under Hamer so nobody found it and he sure wasn't telling it.I paid quite a bit more for the red one I have. I scored it off of the board here from Mobster a year or so ago. It seems Serial just sold a cool looking yellow one here not long ago. These are some of the best playing basses I've ever played and I don't even like a long scale bass.I wonder if Hamer would do a custom order for one?
serial Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 The Impacts are fantastic basses. I have the first prototype that I bought from Kip Winger years ago-awesome bass. Not as light or as "fast" as the yellow one I recently parted with, but it has an incredible cool factor to it. I would guess that Impacts would be in the $1800-2200 range for a clean original one at this point. They are rare and awesome. If anyone is somewhat handy with some basic guitar building skills, I know where one of the early 90s second-generation exotic wood Impact neck thrus (in project form) might be... I think that there were only maybe 4-5 of those made.
quimby Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 $175....ughhhh. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.
gatorbyte007 Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Hey serial: please email me with price and details, I have been looking for a new project. Thanks Steve.
Scarabaeus Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Someone here got a black one off of ebay last year for $175. Yes, you heard right, $173 actually. Here is a pic from the auction back in 2004. My girlfriend says it is one of her favorites in my collection, and that I am not allowed to sell it, but if someone wants to pay stupid money for it ($4,000), I would let it go since I am looking to buy another house, which have also risen to stupid money in my area.
quimby Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yes, you heard right, $173 actually. Here is a pic from the auction back in 2004. $173??!?!?!?!?!?! I love stories like that...I just wish they would happen to me.
popthinker Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Yeah, there was a clown puke pink one at Guitar Center about 2001. I actually saw it shortly before it changed hands. Unfortunately not to me, though. While it wasn't $173, it went for $295 if memory serves.Right place.....ALMOST right time.
BCR Greg Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Ah, the delicate voice of popthinker rings again.Nice to see you here, young lady.
