The "Fleetwood."  I never liked that name.

When he created that model, the late, great Dave Wintz started a thread on the now defunct Robin Lovers Forum asking what we thought it should be called.
I thought is should simply be called The Reverse because, as you pointed out it is a reverse Machete.

Somehow we ended up with Fleetwood.

Dave often took my marketing advice, but this was not one of those times.

Actually, it is an RM Prototype.  The fourth one finished was the first "Fleetwood".  I owned the RM Special-style proto in the picture too.  Like a dumb ass, I sold it.

I wasn't correcting you.  I was telling a related story.

Yes, they were originally calling the RM before he chose a name.

Then he chose poorly.

I know.  I think I sent Dave a possible name, but they archived the RobinLovers Forum and it's gone.  Fleetwood isn't up there on my favorites either.

And please correct me at any opportunity that presents itself.  I'll feel at home...

Also looks like the scale length is 24.594, so I guess it's a bit more "G-brand" than the regular McCarty, which is 25" scale. This also has reminded me that i don't think my PRS CE 24 has seen the light of day for over a year. I should unleash it a bit more often.

Yeah, and the singlecut version is even further into LP territory. Tone knobs are push-pulls so you get all manner of options for switching.

Then there's an S2 'thinline' that's quite SG-ish, while not looking like it.

The 24.594 is supposedly the 'true' scale length of early LP's. Gibson had some interesting methods of measurement that apparently ignored industry standards. Allegedly. No idea if true. But it certainly works on these.
