kizanski Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 After reading this thread though I feel like I'm a bad guy, fucking up peoples guitars, and should be beaten. You got THAT from what I posted? Wayyyy off, Dave.Like I said, I thought it was funny. I know I laughed out loud when you did it!I just made sure I had my back turned at the end of "Rock Steady," that's all. LOL!
elduave Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Elduave es muy sensitivo these days. I guess I'm on my pyramid. Blessings to you all! CM, the bass arrives on Tuesday. Check with young Kyle...
HamerHokie Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 elduave makes a good point: You can feel mentally constrained if you are worried about scratching your guitar, and that will hamper your playing.I don't get up on stage that often, but I have noticed a difference when I'm playing a "player" vs. a guitar that still smells new. At el's gathering a couple of weeks ago, I spent a good part of the evening worried about my black Standard. I don't even think about it until I look down and see a ding and then it's too late. I don't buy a guitar unless I'm going to play out with it so them's the breaks. My AK P-90 got knocked down from a standing up position and lost two big finish chips on the edge, no wood damage but still noticable. I didn't see it until days after it happened. There are all kinds of little micro-dings on my 4-year old Studio Custom.
tomteriffic Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I'll bet I haven't got a single guitar out of 40 or so (all inclusive of fretted instruments in general) that is "perfect" even my new Gold Standard. It's all pretty much the 'Velveteen Rabbit" approach here. The dings and scrapes make it real.
Chollie Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 There is something mystical about a guitar that have wear on it, even if it was purposely relic'd. Especially with Fenders and Les Pauls, I am not very abusive towards my guitars, but other than my 2 USA they all have the poly finish so they tend to take a lot of abuse, but my Fenders are going through the process of trying to be relic'd... My Hamer and Robin are gonna earn their battle wounds.
