esquared Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I might have found what I am looking for but I am interested in getting your thoughts.Have a look at this listing:http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Californian-USA-...1QQcmdZViewItemIt says USA on the head but I have never seen a neck with dots and checks? Is this something unique or custom or could it be a replacement neck? I thought all the US models had checks and the imports had dots? Any ideas?Have a great day
serial Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Cali Deluxe. Standard in 1990 or so with EMGs, a volume and a tone with those inlays.
atquinn Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Also, presence or absence of Boomerang inlays is not a good way to tell US Calis from Imported ones. Plenty of imports have boomers (although they look a bit different from their US counterparts).-Austin
black magic Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I had a cool Chapp Deluxe at one time, I really miss that one, very unique. Jack.
hamerboy_ Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I have it, Jack. The favorite of my 10 Chaparrals.-Bobby
esquared Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 Thanks for the info folks. So with all the fast and authoritative (sounding ) replies. I was wondering if there is a good online source for information about previous Hamer makes and models and options? Or are you guys just walking Hamer encyclopdia's? Either way I appreciate the help.

esquared Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 These guys are good!So the seller changed the listing to state that it is a deluxe from mid 90'sHmmmmm.... I wonder if they have read this site??? So is having tone control a good thing, bad thing, or indifferent? What would I be gaining or giving up?One last question, how come one of the pics in this post has a cali with an up turned head??? or is that not a cali?http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...=cali&st=15Thanks again, because I know knobody has anything better to do then answer my stupid questions
cmatthes Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 The reverse headstock was a custom option (standard upcharge) that could be ordered in the late '80s/early '90s.
serial Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Damn!, Now I'm thirstin' for a Natty Boh and none around!!
black magic Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I had a cool Chapp Deluxe at one time, I really miss that one, very unique. Jack. Ya man, I know. That is one cool guitar for sure!! Did you leave the EMG`s in? That Chapp Custom you traded me was in awsome condition as well. I just can`t get with middle pickups, fo some reason they get in my way. Heck, I don`t even use neck pickups Jack.
