santellavision Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 What's the tone like on these? They seem very cool for about $100.
DEMENTED Posted November 11, 2006 Author Posted November 11, 2006 What's the tone like on these? They seem very cool for about $100.They are cool sounding and there are lots of mods already floating around for them, Mercury Magnetics does a tranny kit that makes a huge difference. Just changing tubes helps. i don't know what to compare them to but they are a cool platform for mods and experimenting.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 They are lots of fun and a bargain. I put a JJ el84 and a JJ ecc803s in mine and it made a big difference compared to the Sovteks. I tried some old Telefunken and Mullard 12ax7's and they all sounded different. But I like the way the ecc803 added highs and took some of the mids out. Stock these amps are fun but kind of midrangey and loose bass with not a lot of highs. But the good news is it doesn't have any bad sounds in it just lacking some range. The cabs look very nice Demented!

thecajunboy Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 I've been doing some of the mods myself, and they all give good results. Waiting on more parts now My collection of stuff was missing some of the values I need. Hey Brian, those cabs look really nice. Would you mind recommending a decent dovetail jig?

srvwannab Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Consider this a firm order for the Cherry/Maple cab-I think they look great.Thanks-Joe

That true for this?

That true for this?In the application this one is used yes...for non-commercial, home project type use there other examples for under $200. Porter Cable has one that is similar but a little less beefy for $110 then you have to buy the dovetail templates sepertely for $50 ea. Check 'em out online or at a local tool store. I prefer the Porter Cable stuff myself. Also check out the Leigh D1600 Dovetail jig and accessory kit for around $400. That one has infinetely adjustable pins for all kinds of options.
Hamer95USA Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Hey Demented, Would it be possible to build a combo cabinet for my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe? I wouldn't mind one of your combo cabinets made in pine and covered in tweed. Guitar George
