bubinga5 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Hey people. I need a little help identifying a bass. Trouble is i have no pics. The bass is the Impact model. It is a three piece through neck, natural, 5 string. I have a feeling its an 80's model, im not sure, as the body shape while keeping that angular shape, looks slightly different from the nineties models. I spotted one in a book called 'What Bass'. Its an absolute beauty!!! Vauge i know but maybe you guys/girls can help? Andy.

quimby Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Unfortunately they are hard to come by. Those that don't have one (e.g. me) want one and those that do want more. They have a great reputation as being great sounding basses that almost play themself. They do come up for sale from time-to-time, but they don't last long at all.
marcnorth Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I now own the yellow one too. This sounds more like the one bubinga5 is talking about.http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...9&hl=impact
cmatthes Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The pics above that Steve H. posted are the "production" models from the late '80s - early '90s. They didn't make that model for a very long time. Those are the set-neck version - there wasn't a "through neck" production model, although they did make a handful of them that were. Multi-lam necks with body wings (not sure, but think they were bubinga, actually), inlaid pearl small logo, gold hardware, boomerang inlays and slightly rounded bodies. These are even more rare than the other Impacts, so if you have found one, GRAB IT! Here are some more Impact pics - Serial owns/has owned both of the prototype Impacts below: Kip W. with the two Impact prototypes

WOW what a bass. Body reminds me of a Zon Sonus(or should that be the other way round). Slightly more rounded. Looks like these are rare beasts, how much would one go for?

Andrew Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I offer the page from the 1992 Catalogue:http://uk.geocities.com/largeat/92imp.htmlAndrew.PS- you might also want to look for rocking horse manure for your garden!

Hamer Bass Head Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 http://cgi.ebay.com/HAMER-IMPACT-BASS-META...1QQcmdZViewItemgo get 'em kid!!!!jeez, I didn't think I'd see one of these on the block until April 1st!
Scarabaeus Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I got a sweet black 4 string impact for $173 off eBay, and it wasn't a BIN! Yes, you read that right. Much less than the currently recognized bottom feeder rate of $350. Can you say "SCORE" !?!Some of you who have never had one in hand may not realize that the back of the body is not flat.
serial Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 That's correct-they're kind of Spector-ish. I love 'em.
Hardrockracer Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 That's correct-they're kind of Spector-ish. I love 'em.Well, Kip played Spectors before he turned to Hamer. Wasn't he involved in the design of the Impact? That might be where the curved body shape comes from.HRR
