Bluesking Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I'm posting this in the "FS/Pay It Forward" board since many of you might remember Jack's long thread when he was selling the mahogany finish P90 Special a few weeks ago. So here it goes.........My P90 Special arrived today (purchased from fellow HFCer Black Magic/Jack) and it flat out kicks ass. I was able to dial in classic Who and Leslie West in about 10 seconds. Here's my rig:Hamer P90 Special---> Reverend Drivetrain II (set for clean boost) -----> Reverend Hellhound head w/ matching 4 x 10 cab. That's it - short and sweet. With just a little volume, I was able to coax the ever-so-fleeting perfect feedback I hear on Live At Leeds and other classic albums.With the 'Hound 1/2 open, it was dead on early Rev Billy G. The P90 Special makes a great compliment to my USA Studio, especially when overdriven blues is in order.On top of the great tone, it is in excellent condition and is much cleaner than the stuff I see hanging in the local GC (go figure) and the other shops in Tucson.I used to have a TV yellow Special a few years back and I had forgotten how it could go from the most perfect clean to downright nasty with the turn of a volume knob. That brings me to my question for the HFC forum:Why doesn't Hamer make the P90 Special anymore? Edited to add: I'm now preparing for the ole' Ebay rassling match with Johnny Thunders for the white P90 Special that ends tomorrow..... c'mon Thunders - you don't need another one, do ya?

Brewmaster Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 A Cherry Mahogany P90 special was my first Hamer. I bought it from Poe who put Lindy Fralins in. Great tone!!! That purchase started me on two addictions, Hamers and pickup swaps.
