FS: Hamer Newport Case

I have an extra Hamer case that is too large for my Sunburst, but too small for a 335 type guitar. I've been informed that it is a Newport case by someone much more knowledgeable than I (see below). The inside dimensions are 14" across at the widest point of the guitar body and then 10.5" across for the thinner part of the guitar body. It's not in perfect shape and two of the latches are broken. But it's solid. $20 plus shipping.

Mirage case?

I'd say Newport, but it looks too old.

But isn't a Newport the same size as a 335? If so, it wouldn't fit, my 335 was much too large.

Nope - the Newport is more compact than a Gibson 300 Series model. Part of their charm! The case does look a little too old for one of those though.

Hey currypoweder,

Where could you get the latches to repair that guitar case? I'm sort of interested in it and I have a rivet gun to install the latches.

George,

You're asking the wrong guy. The case still works fine (the hinges are in good shape), but I have no idea where to get replacement latches. Maybe at a hardware store.

Anyone know an answer to this question?

Kurt - A special will fit, but not snug. I believe the case is a bit big. It's a moot point, however, as it looks like you won't be picking up the special due to a flakey seller!

George - I found some replacement latches here:

http://www.stewmac.com

Search for item 1631. It's not an exact replacement, but pretty close.

Hi, I don't suppose it would fit a chap with a bolt on neck, 24 fret?

Thanks,

Don

Nope.
