Guest teefus2 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 sounds great. i think you will really like the jazzburst with no black and a cognac center. its a great look for hamer, imho. totally agree with taking the hit on the upcharge for bound f-holes. definitely worth the $$$. congrats
cmatthes Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 That's gonna be a killah...Nice job on that order, my friend!
belgian Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Thanks to you guys for all the good input. You were really helpfull !!!
Caddie Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Wayne and Garth could not have stated it more perfectly........SCHWING !!!!!I recommend you keep lots of ice and aspirin handy during the next 4 months in order to control the inevitable swelling. ;-)
mike_levitt Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Belgian,Your guitar sounds great.Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'm curious, how far can you go with a custom order with Hamer? Can you specify neck size? Pickup selection? Wood selection - type and weight? How did you order yours? Through a dealer, or straight from them? For example... Could I order a Monaco Elite with the following specs....Flame maple top, 59 burst (normal spec)Extra lightweight Korina body and neck. Would like the whole guitar to weigh 8 pounds.Big neck profile ('57 gibson reissue).SD antiquity HB pickups.NOS bumblebee or vitamin Q cap (I would supply this). Is it possible? Practical? Expensive?Any thoughts? Thanks!Mike
cmatthes Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Mike:It IS all doable - contact a dealer for a quote (there are several who frequent the board here or contact your favorite local guy/gal).All of the features you mentioned are okay.Chris

Hmmmmm...I have to admit that it kind of scares me to commit to a guitar I've never played..Thanks for the info!!Mike
cmatthes Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Mike:Check your email...much less than you'd think!Chris
phoenix Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Actually "Us guys" mostly are thrilled that another member is thrilled. Doesn't so much matter what it is. what pickups? Jol gassed me hard on the Monaco 3 today with the details of why it was built etc. I'm envious. Got a chance to play one at the fall NAMM. Boy are you going to be in heaven. WELCOME! steve
Mike_C Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 congrat they both sound like great guitars. MIke you'll be happy I know how you feel about ordering without playing but they do a great job.blegian 4 months flies by before yo uknow it you and Europe will have a absolute killer guitar.
belgian Posted March 2, 2005 Author Posted March 2, 2005 There is a new importer for Hamer in Benelux (Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg).Andy Schlosser from Hamer brought him in contact with him. After a few phonetalks, he came over to my place for an afternoon, and we played my gear.( Arists and Newports and my Duotone). So I gave him somekind of a baptism in Hamer quality and the filosophy behind it. In return I could order the Monaco III at a very good price.
Frisco Kid Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Congrats on the custom order! You're going to love the Monaco III. It was my first custom order as well...ordered mine with Goldtop Maple but I'll bet spruce sounds super. The bound f holes were expensive but worth the extra$! The 3 is probably the most versatile guitar I've ever owned. You can get anything from Rickenbacker jangle to Jazzbox fat and back to raunchy crunch. It's also a real piece of art with the sculpted silhouette ridges in the body. An all around winner and my new #1.
