Gino Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Hi,I've heard original vintage hardware parts sell for crazy money these days.Well, I have a set of all original tuning keys ( 2 times 3 in a row) off a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior. 100 percent working.Where would I try to sell those for max. profit ??ThanksGino
Stokesdead Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I would say the les paul forum. Hell even e-bay for something like that. I'm sure that more knowledgeable HFC members will be along shortly to give better advice.~CS
tomteriffic Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 You might want to give BCR Greg a call once he gets home and recovers from NAMM
kizanski Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 What do you want for 'em?My '59 TV could use a set.
Stokesdead Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 What do you want for 'em?My '59 TV could use a set.He wants the most he can get for them. Just like I would. You know what you should really do with them is get a safe deposit box at the bank put em in there and sell them when you are ready to retire. Considering the insane price stuff like that is going for now, who knows what 10 or 15 years will bring. It will probably be one of the best investments you have ever made and all you have to do is hold on to something you've already got. Easy for me to say right.~CS

Stokesdead Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Sorry Kiz I guess I wasn't invited to the conversation. I am just saying he asked for "max profit". If you have been looking for a set, you probably already have an idea of the value. Maybe you should send him an offer. Hope you aren't haveing a bad day buddy. ~CS
Turdus Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 How does one authenticate such pieces? What distinguishes '59 tuning keys from those that may be on a '61 LP Jr? Purely curious, that is all.
kurtsstuff Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Yep.....I've saved all the lint from every pre 1960 les paul case I've ever come across because....for true vintage mojo...ya gotta have pre 60 lint in your case...yes...I "am" a genius!!! I "am" the only one that had the forsight to realize this! and I've got the market cornered.....another 30 years and I'm set in the Bahama's!!!!

Sure, he's looking for max profit, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't ask a fair price and that I might pay it. That said, I must admit that he'd get the most money from the LPF.
BCR Greg Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Name your price. See what happens.I have 10-15 sets, but could always use more.

Gino Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 Greg and Tom, now you hit my dilemma: I have no idea what they are worth other than what they might go for . So I come here because I figure this is a bunch of fair guys. The deal is: I don't want to ripp off anybody and I don't want to get ripped off, either. If some guitar MIGHT get 1000 bucks and someone over here offers - let's say 850 bucks, I'd call this fair. I don't know if these are worth 50 bucks, 500 or 1000 (prolly not ). Closest I found was a vintage guy in Germany who sells 60s Junior and Special keys for 250 bucks (which is probably not what he'll pay for mine since he wants to make some profit). So - if any of you guys are interested, just make me an offer and we can work something out in terms of shipping, paying etc. Gino
BCR Greg Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Email me at greg at bcrmusic dot comI'll give you an idea of what they are worth over here....
Gino Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 Sold for 130.- bucks to a vintage guy over here!Thank you Greg for giving me a frame of reference!Gino
