Steve Haynie Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Is this wrong?Fender '59 Bassman PedalFender '65 Deluxe Reverb Pedal Without hearing the pedals I cannot comment on them, but something is not right about suggesting that the essence of an amp can be captured in a pedal. In the same way a modeling amp can get close, these pedals may have a unique sound that will work in a situation. I wonder what happens if you use these pedals with a Marshall.
greggorypeccary Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I agree, I don't get any of these modelling pedals. Oohh, this one will make me sound like EC, this on like Jimi, etc. Of course, they'll sell tons of them. Bassman in a pedal my a$$!
MTM105 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I am guilty of owning a Boss Amp Machine. Some of the tones, like Matchless, doesn't have any buisness tyring to get a sound from my set up.The Vox sounds and Mesa I am not quite clear. but the Marshall and Fender sounds is distinguishable.Although I am pumping it through a Crate and/or Peavey, the tone sounds similar. For $100, the price is a lot better than throwing the same amount on a Flanger pedal which I rarely find myself playing. But the Boss Amp Machine has been discontinued, probably because of the Cube. Or was it because it just plain sucked....?The Roland Cube has been discussed here ad infinutum. That is sorta a different animal. The sound is included within the amp head. For maybe $20 more you can get an Amp machine on ebay, instead of one of the new Boss Fender pedals, and have a selection of almost 2 dozen tones, compared to just one tone, one pedal. It's all COSM.I like the idea though. Sometimes I can't get enough Deluxe Reverb. Bassman sound is too bright for my taste. I believe that Marshall gets a lot of credit during the 70's for what was actually EVH or Nugent playing through a Fender.
DavidE Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 When did EVH play through a Fender other than NAMM 2007?
Hamer95USA Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Hey Steve, I think those Boss/Fender pedals are just cheesy. You're better off with playing through a real amp to get those sounds. Another colloboration of Fender trying to cash in on their legacy. Fender should try to concentrate on improving the quality of their reissue amps and Hot Rod series amps or come out with PTP versions of their reissues amps like they did with the Tweed Deluxe, but with a lower price. I wouldn't pay $1,800 for a Tweed Deluxe or a Victoria amp when you can an Allen, Richter or Lil' Dawg tweed amp for below $1,000. Guitar George
MCChris Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I believe that Marshall gets a lot of credit during the 70's for what was actually EVH or Nugent playing through a Fender.I don't know anyone who was under the impression that Nugent played through anything except a wall of Fenders. And very LOUDLY at that.
MTM105 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 When did EVH play through a Fender other than NAMM 2007?Old school EVH. I've seen pics in the studio. He was a tone meister in his day.I can't recall which songs sound Fenderish off the top of my head, but I know they're there.I believe that Marshall gets a lot of credit during the 70's for what was actually EVH or Nugent playing through a Fender.I don't know anyone who was under the impression that Nugent played through anything except a wall of Fenders. And very LOUDLY at that.true. I just couldn't think of other artists at the time for sake of arguement. Ted was playing a new Peavey on VH-1 show.I've seen Page (pics) on tour a year or two ago playing through a Fender Reverb. That sound must be the one featured all over Physical Graffiti.
Hamer95USA Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Hey guys, I saw an old photo of Eddie Van Halen backstage with a blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb in the tuning room. He also has a old white Fender Bandmaster with an extension cabinet that he uses at home. My first rock concert was Ted Nugent opening for the Scorpions in 1979. I got blasted by Ted's stack of Fender Twins. I'm surprised I'm not deaf yet. LOL Guitar George
MTM105 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Is Ted the first artist to use Fenders like that? If so, are they designed for that kind of punishment?
Hamer95USA Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Is Ted the first artist to use Fenders like that? If so, are they designed for that kind of punishment? Hey MTM105, From what I read from Ted Nugent's previous interviews, he used to install EV SRO speakers in the Twin's combo cabinets. I understand that he installed a stronger speaker baffle since the speakers weigh quite a bit, but it's designed for efficiency & high volume. Guitar George
