phoenix Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 I could use a little help figuring out where to set up etc. if someone comes early and a few pedal board Q's. Mostly I think you guys should figure out the best things to bring that others are lusting to play. Bass and drums would be cool, maybe a little PA amp and a mic or whatever you stage guys do. I'm getting all my vintage amps redone with NOS tubes by a gent that used to build Wrecks with Ken Fischer. I plan on having at least one Hamer on hand and finishing the work on 2 other guitars to share. I'll post my full list of loot when we get closer and I am more certain. For certain it will be my tele, Les Paul , Carson strat, and two McInturffs. Terry might come as well. Amps for certain are my Bassman, Twin Reverb, AC-30, Marshall, Roadking and Bruno UG-30. 3 wireless systems, Echoplexes, 3 boards of of old and bootyQ pedals.
elduave Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Allright, we're gonna go for it. Ariana, Shilo, Zander and I will arrive sometime in the afternoon and bring in the sunset. I'll bring an acoustic for the bonfire, and a long ass strap. If there's bass/drums there, all the better. I can play bass just fine and drums as long as I can keep my wind and it's simple, and sing too. Looking forward to it! We'll book a hotel to stay in.
phoenix Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 Jack, I'd looove to hear an Orange. Maybe my 72 Marshall slant cab would be a good match. Duave, do you mean Saturday? Looks like I'll have an acoustic and probably a bass back since I cant get my money out yet No need to bring them unless you want to share.
BCR Greg Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Sounds like a blast. Maybe I will tag along with Butcher to the next one, family requires my presence at a few gatherings this time.
Stokesdead Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 come on Greg I wanna get a pick of me and you standing next to each other. It would be great.BTW has Bill chimmed in yet I would love to meet him.~CS
Steve Haynie Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I live 90 minutes away. Maybe I will drive up.
jettster Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I have a ton of backings that I've collected over the years in all different music styles. (Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, etc.) Also have quite a few cover tune backings. If this is something that might be useful, I can burn a DVD, CD audio, mp3, whatever might be needed. Something like that has come in handy before at get togethers I've attended. Everyone can take turns jamming without having to know the same tune. Might be an alternative for those that want to play but don’t necessarily know any cover tunes to jam with others??
jettster Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 We are booked for Sat and Sun 26th & 27th. Should give us some extra time for sightseeing at the Biltmore, etc. Looking forward to hanging and BS'ing without having to use a keyboard.
phoenix Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 Cool! Looks like I'll have 2 bass amps (bassman & AC-30) but no bass or drums unless African drums count . Oh well, plenty to do. Bring your bathingsuits.
Jack C Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I can bring the bass and maybe the drums. I just need to reclaim the drums from a former bassist's house...
phoenix Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 great. I'd love to hear anything through my AC-30-B.
elduave Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 So are we a go? Will there be drums/a drummer? Will Brooks make it now that he has a job? Is Steve Haynie a cop? Inquiring minds want to know!
phoenix Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 I'll find drums and a bass, to go with the food and the place.
gwayne Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Steve, I just found out I've been assigned to work. I hate to drop out, but I have no choice in the matter. I'll come up another time. You guys rock out and burn one for me.G
Jack C Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I should be able to bring drums and a bass. Just a warning - If I bring the drums, I get to play them some. Hey Eldave, I should be able to bring my AD30. You think you could bring along an Orange Rocker head? I'd love to hear one of those.
elduave Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I should be able to bring drums and a bass. Just a warning - If I bring the drums, I get to play them some. Hey Eldave, I should be able to bring my AD30. You think you could bring along an Orange Rocker head? I'd love to hear one of those. I get to play drums too, but only one song or I keel over. Sorry JC, no Rocker heads (or combos) in stock at the moment. Anybody want to check out a Tiny Terror?Plus traveling family of 4 in the van, my space will be limited. I'll see about bringing something though. If there isn't at least 2 acoustics, I'll bring one for sure. Any requests: Zander Standard DuavePro FB RD Artist CMT LP Standard Sparkle ASAT Special Deluxe 70's Iceman L2000 bass Fretless Cruise (ooo, that's one I want to bring and play!) Stuff from the store? Let me know!
phoenix Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 Gwayne, just come up whenever you are free, you are ALWAYS welcome and I have the space now to accommodate your big tone.Drums? man you guys are the best. I am getting me guitars and amps ready. The pepper plants went in Friday. 66 varieties, 20+ countries, 132 plants yahooie. double the plants from last year so the HFC sauz will be flowin'. Will Ray from down the road has a clinic and can't come. Not sure about Terry Mac but I'll check this week.Hopefully we can get a car pool together to wherever Bill is playing that night.
Stokesdead Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I will be bringing my acoustic and at least one of my Hamers.Hopefully I will have my 18 watt cab by then and can bring that too.~CS
jettster Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I was planning on bringing the Budda but, can swap it out for the Orange Rocker 30 combo if everyone would be more interested in that one? Looks like we will be leaving straight from Asheville to go on vacation so, I won't be bringing anything cool guitar wise and hopefully traveling light gear wise. The amps should be alright in the hot sun inside the car but, I don't want to risk it with any of my nice guitars. Just so everyone can get their laughing done ahead of time, this is the guitar I'll be bringing.
elduave Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Steve-What do you think of the cabin rental scene in Asheville? It seems to be a popular option, and something that we might enjoy more than a hotel. Any thoughts on places (budget concious), connections maybe? We'd be staying Saturday & Sunday nights. Thanks!
phoenix Posted May 14, 2007 Author Posted May 14, 2007 Jettster, I always wanted to try one of those.Dave, I'll ask around. Try the Asheville chamber of commerce website. I'm a cheap hotel guy myself. I think you might dig something in walking distance from downtown.
phoenix Posted May 20, 2007 Author Posted May 20, 2007 Mapquest seems to work well. I am the 2nd house on the left through the gates. We have a parking lot by the gates. Lets use it if possible AFTER unloading your gear, bags, bursts, Marshall stacks, progeny, wives, lovers, girlfriends, grandmothers. Also, I forgot that I just had the parking area above the house planted with sod recently so if you park above the house, PLEASE park on the road. This will keep pieces of sod from flying out, divots of mud and prolonged weeping by the host. Let me know how many people and coming and anticipated time of arrival so I can plan the food. Also beverage requests. Bring your hot sauce bottles if you need refills. Depending on who brings what there are lots of options as to where to set up. If it rains, still lots of options. Cabs are $35 max from the center of town or any hotel you might be staying at if this helps not having to drive. Super safe journey to you all. SteveSo far I have a Marshall, AC-30, Bassman and Roadking ready. Strat with a busted trem, Tele, 2 Les Pauls, Hamer 12, McInturff. Should have my Bruno and Twin Reverb back by then. I hope everyone finds something they like.
jettster Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 2 here. We have never made the drive to Asheville before but, based on map quest it looks to be 3.5 hrs or so. We'll shoot for 11:30-1:00 depending on traffic and any other unforeseen variables, if that is cool. It's not a problem for us to grab something to eat on the way if that time frame doesn't blend well with any plans you might already have. Is there anything at all that we can bring to help out? I'll be traveling light gear wise, just bringing the import Steinie and most likely the Orange Rocker 30 combo. So far that amp seems to sound the most passable with that less than stellar guitar. Look forward to meeting everyone.
