gerry Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 this B4S was ordered and owned by howie epstein (tom petty & the heartbreakers). howie borrowed a hamer bass from tom petersson. he liked tom´s bass that much that he ordered two B4S basses, a red one and this goldsparkle. the red one he sold when he was still with us and the goldsparkle he kept in his collection. this bass is in absolute stunning condition. the goldsparkle finish is amazing. it has originally installed emg pickups and an all goldsparkle finish. the serial number is 542121, made in 1995, 12 years old but perfect condition. i have also the certificate which say that this bass was owned and played by howie epstein, signed by howies brothers bradley j. and craig epstein. (see photo) the bass comes with its original hamer case which looks like a vintage archtop case. i would consider parting with this piece of history for the right offer. for usa folks: the bass is still in my friends home in new york city, so no import tax or high shipping charges, only domestic rates, or personal pick up for european folks: i can bring this bass to europe where i live (vienna) personally and ship it within europe. you can send offers to me via the board or to my email address: gerald.fischer@aua.com brgds gerry http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sa.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sc.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Se-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4S-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sb.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sdetail-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sbridge.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/b4sdetail.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4S.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sg.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sa.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sc.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Se-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4S-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sb.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sdetail-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sbridge.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/b4sdetail.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4S.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x37/heyspacecowboy/B4Sg.jpg I WANTED TO POST MORE PHOTOS BUT THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. gerry Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 here is the original comment from the howie epstein estate:the short scale 4 string was a special order from Hamer.Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick) told me that Howie had borrowed his Hamershort scale for a few months and then ordered 2 for himself. This was the only one in his collection at the time of his death. It's in excellent condition, and has its original hard shell case
gerry Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 the price of the howie epstein bass including the original hamer hardshell case is euro 2.000,--.
