Scarabaeus Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 When there is a chunk of wood missing ! Take a close look at the headstock. So much was broken off that the low E tuner is gone. From the sellers description: "The neck is cracked." Seeing that kind of damage, I am sure the neck is cracked. I guess he felt the busted headstock was not worth mentioning. Also from the description: "The item powers on .... " I would like to know what indication there was that it "powered on"? Where is the AC cord? Does it have batteries? I think they assumed the pickup selector is a power switch and basically lied that it "powered on". From looking at the sellers feedback, "Buyer beware" is right! "Cracked" neck on eBay

LordOfTheThighs Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Oh .... I was distracted by the platypus pic.
vockins Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Bargainland had a reissue Veleno for auction a while ago. The "winner" had a feedback of about 150. Every single one of the purchases made by the bidder was to Bargainland. That guy has changed his profile name, so his history is no longer visible, but here's the first ebayer I clicked in Bargainland's feedback profile:http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tab=AllFeedbackGive me a fucking break. I'm sure if you waded through Bargainland's feedback history, you'd find many other profiles just like that one.If Bargainland has a 4-digit Standard going for $350 with 90 seconds left, pass.If Bargainland has a '63 Ferrari 250 GTO going for $9,500 with 45 seconds left, pass.If Bargainland has a box of thumbtacks they'll pay you to take, pass.
stonge Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Bargainland is a clearance house specializing in overstocks, shipping damage claim items etc. Since they currently have about 16,000 items on ebay I'm sure they don't spend a lot of time inspecting each one (which is likely why they have an 'as is' clause in their listing). Third biggest seller on Ebay with 90% positive feedback, so I guess they ain't all bad. I'd wager a good number of the non-positives were from folks who didn't pay attention and thought they were getting something nice, new, and shiny.I picked up a Hamer Triple Threat from them that had been broken in shipping; it was nicely repaired by some friends and plays and sounds great. Got a decent deal on it (barely beat out a friend who was in the running), and a few folks have played that one at Casa de Stonge and seemed impressed. a good guitar that I don't have to worry about dinging up lol...
serial Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I think I know how this one got broken. It was literally "cracked" when Kiz shoved it up some guy's ass who graded the condition much higher than it really was. Ouch.

Hmmmm... I've still gotta see see that one in the flesh, Stonge-O! It wasn't there last time I toured the Basement of Doom!
Steve Haynie Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 With a $205 top bid, just what does the winning bidder hope to get? The case has a value, and so does the hardware. How much is it going to cost to rebuild the headstock? The top bidder should take another look at that guitar.
