Due to an unfortunate interaction between the family budget and rampant G.A.S. a pair of my USA-built Robin Rangers are available for adoption:

2003 Robin Ranger in satin nitro red over swamp ash, nice chunky maple neck, with mint guard and stock Rio Grande pickups. Weight 7 lbs (according to previous owner), with a couple of minor body dings (colored in with red Sharpie lol) that wouldn't photograph well. includes OHSC. Plays great, sounds better. $725 for local pickup or $750 shipped insured Fedex Ground.

2004 Robin Ranger in satin blue nitro over swamp ash, medium maple V-neck with rosewood fingerboard, gloss white pickguard and all stock Rio Grande pickups. Formerly from the JeffR collection, and I think Kiz may have spent some quality time and can vouch for this one. Weight 6.25 lbs (according to JeffR when I bought it, and I have no reason to doubt 'cause this one is a feather - lightest guitar I own), and in good clean condition. Plays great, and this one has gone and slugged it out with several Custom Shop Fenders and walked away on top - the strat pickup in the middle sounds better than any Fender I've played. $750 for local pickup or $775 shipped insured Fedex Ground.

Both guitars are great - the red one cops a nice old Tele feel but the blue one just kills. I brought the blue one into the shop to try out some Teles last week, and everybody in the shop took a spin on the blue one and was amazed (not enough to actually pay me for it, but amazed nonetheless lol). If you don't know Robins, either of these is a darned good start. If you're local, stop on by for a roadtest and I'll buy dinner at the local BBQ joint (thursday is All-you-can-eat night. Ask Kim Keller about it sometime lol).

email to stongemonataoldotcom , since I'm never sure if the board PMs are working right. Thanks, stonge

I believe I've seen it written on a stone tablet somewhere that you can't go wrong buying a guitar from Stonge.

No - really!

Ol' Blue is definitely Mr. Bad Ass from a player and tone perspective. "Featherweight" is an understatement - I don't think a lighter-weight solidbody guitar exists.

ya know, I think with the appreciation that Virts are undergoing that you otta just send me one of those as compensation.

Nice guitars, even if they do look like tele's.

That blue one has me thinking....

I had a Blue Medley Many years afo and It was my favorite tone wise of any guitar I had at the time. Only reason I sold that one is I could nat deal with the locking trem on the guitar.

May e another Robin in my future

That blue one is nice...is satin finish the norm for these?

I believe the satin nitro finish is the norm for the Ranger Standard model - hopefully a Robin fan can chime in with a definitive answer. I really like how the finish feels - feels like bare wood and the guitars seem to resonate nicely. The red one reminds me of a friends' older tele; just has that feel with the chunky neck and the resonance. The blue one has been the gold standard during my tele hunt - sent a few Custom Shop Fenders back to the rack in shame lol. If these had traditional 3 brass saddle bridges (which gives just a little more twang which I was looking for), I would have kept both of these. It took a 5 1/2 lb Vintage Hot Rod Tele to unseat these two from my gear pile (the VHR isn't as versatile, but I really was chasing the twang). That VHR can't touch the strat tones from either guitar, though so I gotta dig out my SRV or a Daytona for that now.

I always give buyers a couple of days for an approval period - I've had a few guitars arrive that just didn't fit me, and it sucks to have a new guitar that you just don't dig. Just a thought, hepkat

The satin finish was offered on the "Pro" (entry level) Rangers, Rawhides (then called Wrangler), etc, but is now only offered on request.

PM and e-mail sent on the blue one.

an interesting thought, Poe, but unless Capital One will accept your 5th choice as legal tender (but I fear the shipping costs for that one would bankrupt me and violate laws in several states lol)...

Bump for Stonge because he's an incredibly good guy and is 100% EASY to deal with for anything.

These guitars are also cool.
