...on German e-bay.

http://cgi.ebay.de/Hamer-USA-Custom-Gitarr...1QQcmdZViewItem

I haven't ssen that much money spend on a not really vintage Hamer over here.

Looks nice and has golden harware as factory option, but other than that, it's just a plain Studio Custom!

So maybe the "get ya pre-Fender Hamer" rumor is spreading already on this side of the big pond!

That price ain't so bad to European standards.

New, those are going for 2600 € or 3800 $

I am close selling my minty korina Jr. for 2130 $....or 1450 €.

I'll need the mony for a custom M3 with a V-shaped (Talladega) neck.

I sell new ones for just a tickle over that price, boys.

Yeah, but can you say THIS about yours??

Just to help you guys out with yer German: There's some bulls**t in the text like: From the Hamer Custom Shop. I was told there ain't no such thing...

Seriously: Our (the euros, that is) problem is to get to Greg's neat store :P . I know he's got a deal with the postman, but there's 19 percent salestax + shipping + 4 percent customs on top of his great prices

Mine give happy endings.

I certainly hope so.

Back to the serious ( spell M O N E Y ) stuff: Greg, it doesn't matter (at least in this country) if something I get from a non-EU country is new or used. Upon import I have to pay the salestax  .

It all depends on what value is declared on the invoice that should be on the outside of the parcel. That's what they calculate the salestax and custom's fee on.

Go figure... :P

I think the weak dollar is more to blame than the Fender takeover. The price itself isn't so bad, it just looks bad when it's converted to US dollars. If we use the different exchange rates from 99 until today and plot it into a graph, it looks like this, and as you can see, it hasn't always been $2000

Nice chart there, but 1.345.- EUR are just that - 1.345.- EURO! Mind you: When USA Hamers were still available over here, the Studio Custom sold new for about 2.500.- German Marks which equals roughly about 1.300.- EUR.

I don't know how you Danish folk went through the EUR-introduction, but over here everything is pretty much gone up in price ever since, in some cases to where we actually pay the same amount in EUR now that we used to pay in German Marks (while the EUR/DM exchange rate was initally almost 1 to 2!!) - ehmm, except income

My point was that $2000 for a used studio custom sounds a lot worse for our american friends than 1345€ does to you. I did a quick search for new Hamers in Europe and the only guitar I found was a studio (not custom) going on sale for £1172 (€1680, $2460 today). I don't know when new USA Hamers where available in Germany, but from what I understand it's been a while since one could get new studio customs for $1500 (using the middlevalue of the selected exchangerates).

I'm norwegian, not danish, and still use the norwegian krone.

O man, please forgive me for looking not close enough at that flag !!

I guess you're right - the prices are still reasonable for the quality you get - while of course you never really know what shape a USA Hamer you buy will be in as there are virtually no new ones available.

But compare the price for a newly imported Hamer including all the additional cost to anything close with a big G on the headstock: new R7s range anywhere from 3.500 - 3.800 EUR over here!

That being said, it's still pretty annoying that Hamer can't get a decent distibutor (one that actually does some distributing of their US makes!) for Germany !

Ok, if you need still more money and think about selling the Vector, just let me know -- I'm waiting my Christmas bonus to satisfy my Vector greediness around. <_<
