BadgerDave Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 price reduced - $500, see below 96 USA Eclipse. Dark trans green over mahogany. 7.6 lbs, neck solidly in the medium range (.086" at the nut, .089" at the 12th fret). OHSC in very good condition. Butchery consists of the following: 1. Neck pickup has been replaced with a Lollar P-90. The pickup caviity has been enlarged and new mounting holes were drilled for the larger mounting ring. 2. Bridge pickup has been replaced with a NOS Bill Lawrence dual blade humbucker (P-90 sized, a P-90 could easily be swapped in) cavity enlarged, new mounting ring holes. 3. At some point, the bridge mounting stud bushings were either pulled or partially pulled resulting in some cracking and lifitng of the finish. The worst is shown in the photo below, this is hidden beneath the bridge when mounted. The bushings are solidly mounted - no looseness, movement, buzzing, etc. I suspect the attempt to remove these was aborted when the finish began lifting and the perpetrator hammered the original bushings back down. 4. Tuner buttons replaced with ebony (originals included) 5. Bridge studs replaced with black Tone Pros locking models (originals included) 6. Bridge replaced with black correctly compensated stop Tail. 7. Control knobs replaced (I don't have the originals, but I can include a similar set of chrome dome knobs) I do not have the original Duncan pickups or mounting rings. Other than the changes described., everything is original and in excellent condition. $600.00. $500.00 Shipping is included within the lower 48 states, I'll ship anywhere if you're willing to pay the actual cost of FedEx or UPS. I ship FedEx exclusively to Canada to avoid "surprise" post delivery UPS charges. PayPal is fine, add 3%. Oh, I forgot the sales pitch! Tons of mojo, plays like buttah. IMO, the replacement pickups make this a much more usable guitar than a stock Eclipse. Light, compact and cool as hell. Edited because I was mistaken about having the original Wilki bridge - I thought it was in the case, it's not. Sorry for any confusion.
AdmiralB Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 So that's where it wound up.This was mine; I routed it, put in Florance P90s. Soapbars don't quite cover the mini ring screwholes though, so I had the guy at fretsonthenet.com make the new rings.I put a Pigtail on it, and the hardened steel bushings. Looks like whoever did the black hardware pulled those (probably because they were SAE and not Metric) and lifted the finish.
jwhitcomb3 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Sigh.I really, really like that guitar. Never mind that I'm so busy that I've played maybe an hour of guitar in the last two months, never mind that I have 5 beautiful Hamers sitting in their cases that haven't seen the light of day since August, never mind that I'll be in school for another 2 and a half years and supporting my family of 4 entirely on my savings and will probably have to sell off a few more guitars just to squeeze by...Sigh.Good luck! And whoever buys it, keep me in mind a few years down the road if you decide to unload it!-Jonathan
David B Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I love that green. It's like the old Specials.
santellavision Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 That's not really 'butchered', I've seen way worse. I think it's pretty darn cool actually!
Guest pirateflynn Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 You definately have an good eye, Dave.Damn nice looking guitar.
Jakeboy Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 The pup selection is cool...how much fret wear are we talkin'?
BadgerDave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 whats the neck profile like on this?"neck solidly in the medium range (.086" at the nut, .089" at the 12th fret)"That's slightly thicker than a Gibson 60's profile. Standard C shape. The pup selection is cool...how much fret wear are we talkin'?Just double-checked.None. No flatspots or grooves. The frets are tall, crowned and polished. They look new and perfect.
lonechicken Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Sigh, my favorite color. But I have a strict "one in one out" policy for myself with guitars... until my daughter grows old enough to seriously start playing.
