JimVW Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Auction link Help! I suffer from incurable GAS, and I need some quick cash for another guitar purchase!
Hamer95USA Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Hey G.A.S. sufferers, Can you say "Schwing"? I need to buy a rack case for my guitar rack system or else I might pull the trigger on that one. Guitar George
holLoWskull Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Dear God, at that price I'll be suprised if the auction lasts the night! If I didn't already have a T-62, I'd be on ebay instead of typing on the HFC board. To anyone reading who is on the fence....the T-62 is one of the most amazingly versatile strat style guitars Hamer ever produced. It's light weight, the ABM trem is AMAZING (way better feel than a Wilkinson and better sound than a Floyd IMHO) and the pau ferro fingerboard/birdseye maple neck combo look great and sound better! These guitars are equally at home doing blues, country, rock or shreddin'.... simply fantastic and unheralded.
DavidE Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Don't they have really skinny necks? And what are Duff pickups?
JimVW Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 It's a great guitar, I just need to move it fast to get a used McInturff I'm lusting after. Yeah, my hope is that it DOESN'T last the night, because I need the cash fast.I'm also selling a Parker Fly Classic in near mint (just some slight pick and button scratches) for $1325 BIN. In my mind, the McInturff is worth trading the Hamer and the Parker for, so I priced them so I could afford the McInturff if they both sold quickly.Check out Owen Duffy's web site for info about his pickups: http://www.ocduffpickups.com/Also, follow the link on the auction to the Harmony Central reviews of the pickups.
holLoWskull Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I can't speak for the neck profile on all T-62's, but mine's an early 1992 model and the neck is actually a little closer to medium than thin (thicker than my late 80's-early 90's shredders and Specials (except the holoskull Chap, that one's thicker), but just a little thinner than my mid-90's Hamers). I guess mine, by Hamer standards, would fall on the slightly thinner side of a modern neck carve if I had to try to describe it, but I'm sure opinions on neck widths/profiles are a very subjective topic.
DavidE Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Well, it survived the night.I was tempted, but the downsize body just looks weird to me. But that's a hell of a lot of guitar for the money!!!
hardheartedbill Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 it's calling your name DavidE, it's as close to 350 as it will get LOL
Lockbody Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 it's calling your name DavidE, it's as close to 350 as it will get LOL No, It's calling my name. That's why it hasn't sold yet. I just ain't got no mon-nay.Damn, damn, damn.
nosajwp Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Too bad he only wants Paypal...if I could buy with a money order, it would be over and done with! What year is it?Guys, will a standard Strat pickguard fit a T-62? It would be cool to be able to swap the stock electronics for another configuration with a simple pickguard change. Is the jack located similarly to Diablos and Centauras? Also, I've heard you can block the tremolo...how is this done on this guitar?
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Guys, will a standard Strat pickguard fit a T-62? It would be cool to be able to swap the stock electronics for another configuration with a simple pickguard change.No...I'll let everyone else answer the rest of the questions.
DavidE Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Thanks Bill. I just never tried one of these and I'm not sure I'd have any need for it with as many strat guitars I have I at this point. Very cool looking axe and like I said above, appears to be a ton of guitar for that little money.Besides, I'm looking at a JSX head on Saturday.
clmazza Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I may be interested... can someone post a pic for me?! I'm at work and do not have access to Ebay.If it lasts the day... I may snag it tonight when I get home. Thanks in advance!Chuck
JimVW Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 Too bad he only wants Paypal...if I could buy with a money order, it would be over and done with! What year is it? My PayPal requirement has been met; my Parker sold and I had enough cash to PayPal the money for my new instrument to its seller, so I could sell the Hamer via money order now. I can check the year when I get home, but I think they only made them for a couple of years in the early 90s. I bought it used in 1994. Here are the pics for Chuck: Detailed pics at the auction, or email me at jim at vanwinkle dot com.
JimVW Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 Sold. Thanks for your interest, everyone! And also, thanks for the help you all gave me when I was rewiring it!-JimVW
