Craig S Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Never though I'd do this but I've still got the racin' bug and looking to raise a little cash. Tweed C30 in vg to excellent condition, Teefus modded, EH pre-amp tubes, JJ power. I've had this for years and will probably miss it but I have others. 395.00 + shipping. I've obviously like it so much I don't have pics.. I'll snap one if there is any interest.
Brewmaster Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Best amp on the planet for $400.00. You have to spend 2x as much to match it IMHO. I still have my Teefus mod C30 five years later.
Craig S Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 And it appears the be sold....I've had one since 92' ..... probably a dumb move on my part but I just have too much stuff.
Mindseyes Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 what does the mod do for the sound of the amp?
tomteriffic Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 what does the mod do for the sound of the amp? It's actually several small mods. As Teefus explained it to me, the most important one is letting more signal into the amp, giving it something to work with. Seems Hartley wanted to protect it from 15 year old kids with a line of fuzzboxes in front of the amp. By opening up the input faucet, the amp has more room to work, the tone controls get more responsive, the output tube distortion is smoother, etc. It just lets the amp breathe. The other significant thing is the replacement of a number of components in the signal path with high-quality ones (Cornell Dubelier resistors, orange drop caps, etc.). On mine, Teefus also played with the boost circuit, giving it a broader bandwidth and less amplitude, sort of taking a spiky curve and smooshing it down into a broader, smoother one. What you get is a near boo-teek experience at a bar band kind of price. Oh, and it makes your dick bigger.
tomteriffic Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Deal is done and it's nicer than I'd expected. Props to Craig on a smooth handoff and a nice meet-n-greet which, as always, was all too brief.
Craig S Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 Thanks Tom... Just remember I get first dibs back.... I hope you enjoy it... that amps has really served me well, I'm going to miss it I'm sure.. likewise I wish we'll could have hung out a little longer, hungry usually compel short visits...thanks again.
Craig S Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 How/where do I get a Teefus mod?You can't from him.... he's not doing them anymore...
BubbaVO Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 More importantly, you still can get a bigger schwantz.

Craig S Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Eminence Texas Heat's sound good in them too
BubbaVO Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Anyone know how to mod a Classic 20 to make it sound like an 18 watt Marshall?

Howdy Tom,,, I assume you're going to set this one up differently than your other Teefused C30,,, what speaker(s) are you planning on using? I've had a Weber ceramic Blue Dog and Silver Bell in my C30 and 112E cab. Sounds great, but I'm always curious about other possibilities... With regard to a 'different' setup, I hadn't really decided yet. I've given the amp a good wringing out with my trusty ol' Sunburst (aka "Reckless Abandon") but I hadn't gone much farther than that. It's a stellar amp as-is. On my first one, I went through a lot of speaker gyrations, most notably those same two Webers. They wound up in a 2 x 12 Avatar extension cab and that combination sounds scary good with the C-30. Strangely, but not all that surprisingly though, I wound up sticking with the original pre-Blue Marvel Eminence that was in there for the amp itself. Craig told me that he did the same thing with this one and wound up going back to the Blue Marvel that is in there. So far, I like it. This one has a hair more 'rip' to it, but that difference could easily be minor tube differences or something similar.
Craig S Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 I tried a vintage 30 in that amp and thought it was great until I really listened to it.... too many mids... The Eminence Texas Heat was the best aftermarket speaker I tried... Has a lot of the characteristics of the ?Eminence Blue Marvel and earlier speaker. The amp might have British tubes but the speaker is definately American.
