What am I, NUTS?

Today it was suggested that I be the guitar tech for the New York Dolls, and I declined. I must be nuts. Weekends only, some European and Canadian dates.

Problem is, NO HAMERS. Yet.

Guitarist Steve Conte is on the side of the stage formerly occupied by the late, great Johnny Thunders. Steve was in a band called Company of Wolves with his brother on drums and Kyf Brewer of the Ravvyns on vocals. He is one of the few that could do that job and not be a JT ripoff. Johansen and Sylvain are still there, thank god, Arthur Kane passed away recently, sadly. Sami Yaffa, Hanoi Rocks and Jetboy bassist, is there to handle bass duties. What a lineup! And I had to have a guitar store that needs me.... LOL

Go see them, and when I get Conte to play my TV BCR Junior, I'll get pics. Who knows, maybe he'll put down the LP Custom and get a REAL guitar!!!!

Didn't Nitebob work for them?

Back in the day when they where more

than a novelty comeback act?

They used to be the coolest band!

Did you guys know that Johnny Thunders

has a kid here in Sweden? He lived here

for a while in the 80's with a georgeus Swedish

blond.

I know some guys who used to be in his band back then.

Company Of Wolves-their first CD was the shiznit! Did they ever release another? I always wondered what happened to those guys. That guy was a good guitar player, he always seemed to play what was needed for the song.

I used to catch the Ravyns in the bars of DC, in the early 80's. They were a great bar band. The first COW CD was really good. I lost track after that one. I'd heard that the drummer had become a producer, or something along those lines. Just found this link. Looks like they did an album in the late 90's, then another in the early 00's.

Check out the mp3 sample of "Call Of The Wild". Have not heard that cut in years.

Actually Frankie LaRocka was Comapny Of Wolves drummer. He just passed away. I met him a couple of times when the Excentrics where doing the music conference circuit. His advice to me? Don't wear your long sleeve shirt unbuttoned with a white t-shirt underneath.

Speaking of the "biz" I just finished Jacob Schlister (Semisonic's drummer) book "So You Want To Be A Rock & Roll Star". Very entertaining.

Greg - you're not allowed to leave until you finish restoring my 78 Sunburst! Don't even think about it. LOL

I became pretty good friends with Rob Fahey a few years back. Rob has done a lot of solo projects since the Ravyns split and a few reunions.

I'm sure Bob can jump in here if he reads this, but yes he did in the early 70s ('72 or '73). There was a big write up in the last issue of Guitar something, and had many quotes from Bob in it.

Wow, somehow thought I heard that Johansen died in the late 90s. Dead wrong, was I.

Came across this site doing a google:

Dead Rock Stars Club

It's pretty extensive (though probably far from complete).
