atquinn Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I have too many freakin' 2-humbucker guitars! So I'm looking to replace one of them (probably my '04 SC) with a 2-P90 guitar. I'm looking for a Studio P90 with full binding (body, neck, and headstock). Ebony fretobard would be nice too (). Whaddaya got? -Austin
BubbaVO Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Hmmm...should we be surprised that you didn't go for a pup swap with Rio Bastards or Duncan Phat Cats?
atquinn Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 I didn't like the Rio Bastards (too nasal) and Phat Cats are too polite and single-coil-ish. I could get Duncan to make me some custom phat cats that are built to Hot P90 neck/Custom P90 bridge specs, but that would cost upwards of $300 and, given the different position of the coils, the sounds still wouldn't be the same. So, instead of doing that, I'm seeing what's out there. Either way, I might end up keeping the '04 SC -Austin
atquinn Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 How about a soapbar Custom 22? J/K I've decided that the middle pickup is stealing my mojo ! I'm on the lookout for a suitable McCarty soapbar, but I'd rather get a Hamer. -Austin
sw686blue Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Austin, this one is calling your name.Good luck.
Feynman Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Gotta agree with Nick here. That thing is badass. Maybe this will be the one...
sw686blue Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 It's calling my name too! Right now I'm trying to be good and not buy anything guitar related.

You should love one, since you only do the modeling thing (still?). The best modeled, recorded tones I ever got were with my old Vanguard. Much heavier than Strat singlecoils, but much more clear and percussive than 'buckers. Dare I say almost "real" sounding.

atquinn Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Monoco eElite Goldtop P-90?? I can't deal with single cutaways. Every once in a while I try, to see if maybe something has changed, but nope, it never does. -Austin
