Jimbilly Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 This is sort of near me, kind of a odd place for an Impact to wind up. I wonder why he doesn't post a real pic? -too much $$ for me anyway ($5k).http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/msg/912190106.html
cmatthes Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Interesting...Since Serial owned the documented prototypes (Copper and the White/Gray ones) wonder what the seller has if it isn't his/Kip's old copper one.
atquinn Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 $5K? Thanks, I needed a laugh today -Austin
Jimbilly Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 $5K? Thanks, I needed a laugh today -Austin Yeah, it doesn't seem like a good market right now for anyone to be asking TOP dollar.
serial Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 If anyone wants to check the serial number, I can verify whether it's one of the prototypes or not. I did buy the two prototypes from the ad directly from Kip and sold the copper one.

I did buy the two prototypes from the ad directly from Kip and sold the copper one. Here it is on eBay.Clear shot of the serial number, too. (I can still smell crack smoke, though). The ad is carefully worded as to not claim that it is one of the prototype Impacts made for Kip, but he does imply it by pointing out that "the protoypes were developed for Kip Winger."This is easily explained by The Keeper of the Numbers.
serial Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Definitely NOT one of the prototypes. This one is from the middle/towards the end of the run.
HamStd Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Definitely NOT one of the prototypes. This one is from the middle/towards the end of the run.Not to mention that aren't the two made for Kip the only ones to have the P/J pickup configuration unless custom ordered from the factory. I also remember someone telling me that the P/Humbucker configuration was better at addressing the trends sound-wise at the time then the P/J, but that this was the configuration on his spectors so he wanted it that way.Peter.

They ARE nice basses, but that's a ton to ask for one in the most common color/configuration.
