The Loop is the major rock station in the Chicagoland area and in 1980 this was the grand prize for a "Air Guitar" contest. I guess the lucky winner decided to stick with his/her current "air" axe and fliped this to GC back in the day. I got it a few years back from the guy who saved it from the endless hack fest of GC. The "LOOP" logo on the back is hand painted and under the final clearcoat, the letters are all under the finish too. The names on the neck are some of the on-air DJ, sports, weather crew from the Loop back then. A sharp eye will notice the font is the same as Hamer used on a couple of Rick's 1-off guitars, check out the "Guitars of the Stars" book... The guitar is in good condition, has been played but not abused. The nut was changed to brass loooog ago, pickups and parts are original. Neck is medium with a nice round feel at the cowboy chord area, it tapers slightly thinner then tapers out normaly to the body. It sounds strange to explain and it's kind of subtle but actually I've seen a lot of sunbursts and specials from this era with this profile. The guitar plays well, sounds great, it's not heavy (8.65). Comes with the original Hamer red lined case that has a replacement handle and a stiff hinge but works just fine. Johnny B and the gang didn't join The LOOP until '83 or so. The early JB days were pretty funny, but this guitar and contest where long gone my then. Mark.

Pirhanna man didn't show up until at least a year later. The crap I remember, scares me.The guitar, BTW, looks totally cool!

And so was Chet Coppick of WMAQ TV and radio. Bruce did a send up of Chet Coppic - Chet Chit Chat. I can't remember when Buzz joined Steve and Gary. And someone should by this guitar just because its such a cool piece of Chicago nostalgia.
