Hamer of the gods Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Found one in a seedy pawn shop, not sure what theyre worth. The asking price is $1500, it's in good shape, birdseye cabinet with wicker grill, JJ tubes. Anyone?

The maple cab is a plus, but the S.O.B. was a "re-issue" of sorts of the original MK amps. They are capable of the same type of gain as the early MK's, but I think they were a bit stripped-down feature-wise.Some folks dig them, and you might want to jump over to the Boogie Board and see what they say.CJ

The same shop has a Les Paul Standard that I know is a fake Chinese knock off tagged at $1200! The owner of the shop just barely speaks english, may not be worth the trouble. The amp did sound pretty good and has a limiter knob which brings the volume down to a usable level. I was planning on offering $500 cash...
cmatthes Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 $500 cash would be a good deal. I don't think those go for much more than $750, even with the wood cab/wicker. Those were Boogie's first "cheap" amp.
backinit Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 The cab by description reminds me of a Legend amp I used to own.
jerseydrew Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I had a Boogie SOB back in 1982. I didn't like it and sold it. I wouldn't even pay $500 for it. For a little more money you can get a MKIII.

Jimbilly Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 A very good store near my in Olympia WA has one for $599, they're a Mesa dealer too. I think it's been on the floor at least a couple of weeks, IIRC it's black tolex.http://www.music6000.com/indexuse.htm The 2009 Vintage Guitar price guide says "considered the first reissue of the original Mark I... 1982-1985, $675-$725". As far as I've seen the VG price guide is always high. My guess is that the $500-$600 range is about right, -less than $500 is getting pretty cheap for almost any Mesa.
