atquinn Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 ... and I can't afford it http://cgi.ebay.com/John-Suhr-Modern-Carve...62935QQihZ017QQ -Austin
Feynman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Sell your bottom 2-3 and buy it.I doubt you'll regret it.Devnor knows stuff.
anotherfreak Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 OMG you're not kidding, that's awesome! so if'n I buy it I'll need a place to live, if I come live with you, you'll get to play it too
backinit Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 The guitar would be cheap compared to the following divorce.
Chi Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 damn that is nice.I have a Suhr classic; Mr. Suhr sure makes awesome stuff.I will a have custom-spec'd Moderne or Standard one day.
carfish7 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Love the guitar and the serial #.Aldrich pickups????Z
Feynman Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 After some more detailed study, I agree with you. That thing is just about perfect.
MrMunky Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 ... and I can't afford it http://cgi.ebay.com/John-Suhr-Modern-Carve...62935QQihZ017QQ -Austin The exact same thing happened to me: But then a couple of things clicked - I sold another guitar and the dealer had a crazy sale that was actually quite good. I still couldn't afford it but I'm glad I didn't let that stop me
atquinn Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 so if'n I buy it I'll need a place to live, if I come live with you, you'll get to play it too It's a plan! Seriously, I'm looking for a Modern with a recessed Gotoh 510 bridge (the non-floyd). If this had a bridge like that, I'm sure I would have already bought it, against my better judgement, and started a great sell-off. For some reason, although they're fairly redundant, I love all my Studios, so unless I find the perfect Suhr Modern (or order one ) I'll be keeping them. -Austin
Sam Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Better start selling now - you won't feel complete without the matching Badger. Mmmm Been through the Suhr Gallery to see if what you want exits? http://gallery.mac.com/suhrguitars
sw686blue Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I betcha Robin could build you that guitar for a lot less than that asking price. Just a thought.
ceeb Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I dunno. I always thought that bolting anything to Mahogany (korina) was not preferred. I know it's been done plenty, even by Jol a few times. I think in the long run 20+ years the Mohogany gets soft. Not really soft, but softer than ash or alder. He prolly has washers underneath the bolts, but I think I'd rather see a plate. Don't a lot of older LPs have issues with the bridge studs coming loose? Maybe I'm nuts, but I swear I heard it somewhere.
