WTB: Hamer Phantom or A7...

I'm looking for a Phantom or A7. Due to a lack of money it needs to be cheap! Condition doesn't matter, it's time for a new project

PS: I live in Germany, so shipping would be a bit more expensive, but I would cover that!!!

I'm the idiot who bought it. It's missing a fucking chunk near the input jack, the pickguard is chipped... I just got it in the mail today and paid a whopping $385 for it. I got rooked. lol!

If the synth jack works, it was worth it (Anybody got a GR-300 floor unit for sale? lol! Didn't think so). The truss rod cover didn't make it through the change of hands that it had recently either.

Is the finish poly? That would make refinishing extremely difficult (which it needs badly)...

Ugghhh the styling is rather ugly and makes my Scarab look dignified when they are next to each other, but the good news is that they are only 13 serial numbers away from each other... does that make them made on the same day?

I'd re-sell it, but I ain't losing any money on it and it does NOT have a proper case (The length of the left horn makes it pretty hard to find a case for one).

I couldn't even think of sending a guitar to Germany without a proper case.

Perhaps you should mention that you did not buy it from me before you make me look like a liar and a cheat. I sold it in February to a guy who was thrilled to get it. I fully disclosed everything about the guitar. Paults tested the guitar with his rig and said the synth electronics worked when I had it. I hated the thin neck so I never played it.

You got what you paid for.

Yes, I bought the guitar on eBay recently from a dude named John from Encino California. I typed that post without thinking that people might not have known that I didn't buy it from you. I guess that I should have specified that I bought it on eBay and not here... I thought that it was common knowledge that it was for sale on eBay recently. I just assumed that everyone kept tabs on what Hamers were for sale on the Bay.

Sorry DavidE, you have every right to be irritated when you saw that. I was actually just talking smack and am pretty excited about the guitar and it's GK-1 pickup.

I had no idea that the guitar ever even came through this site, I never saw your amazing photobucket pics until after the auction was over. That's why I was pissed about the missing chunk of wood, pickguard chip and missing truss rod cover that I couldn't see from the eBay pics.

I would have been better off going back in time and buying it straight from you. Again DavidE, I meant no disrespect.

The Roland synth stuff worked great when I tested it for Dave - I would have bought this one, had I not already had two A7s that I liked better.

If you want a Roland GM70 rackmount GK1 to MIDI convertor, I have an extra spare to sell. I may have an extra cable too, but I need to doublecheck how many of mine work. If you're good with a soldering pencil, I can sell you a cable for cheap - I have several that need one of the ends redone.

You should have no problems if the original finish is on there.

You might have an extra GK-1 cable that needs to be redone? I was thinking that they might be DB-25 cables with a dead pin, but they look proprietary the more that I closely inspect the jack.

Soldering 24 pins? Yikes! my soldering abilities would not be up to par for what that job would require. Fuck if all of my synths are old as dirt and don't have midi (my dx-7 has some midi if you call transmitting on one channel midi implementation! lol!)

So you played this guitar through the GM-70 and it worked correctly? I have heard great things about the GM-70, but I have also heard that the realtime peak-to-peak analysis results in slow pitch conversion though.

A GR-300 system seems like the way to go for this axe... scoring one of those would be no small feat.

The guitar is begging to be refinished and the hardest part is already done (the neck). It plays pretty awesome though and I am loving it more every minute!

Yeah, the guitar worked fine with the GM70. Keep in mind, though, a GR300 doesn't use MIDI, so there's no delay at all. However, if you want to use realistic sounds (as opposed to Pat Metheny/Robert Fripp lead synth, it'll take more than a 300. As cool as a 300 sounds, you would be paying a lot for a one-trick-pony.

There is a GR300 model in the VG-99 that can be used with any GK2 or 3 pickup. Listen to the sounds at joness.com. You would also get a gazillion amps effects and guitar models, too.
