nosajwp Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I have a mint Mesa Heartbreaker head with footswitch that I would like to sell. I also have a mint Mesa 2x12 3/4-back cab with the embroidered slip cover that I might consider selling if the Heartbreaker sells.http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o139/nosajwp/DSCN3312.jpghttp://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o139/nosajwp/DSCN3313.jpghttp://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o139/nosajwp/DSCN3310.jpghttp://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o139/nosajwp/DSCN3311.jpg$850 plus shipping for the Heartbreaker, and $400 plus shipping for the cab. Only interested in shipping to the lower 48.Only trades I would consider at the moment would be either a VHT 50ST head or Rivera S120 head for the Heartbreaker.
BubbaVO Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 That's not really one for a bedroom/studio is it?
e-isle rock Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 50/ST's are awesome amps! I have a 50/12 (combo version of the 50/ST) on the way I got offCL. Totally regret selling my 50/ST a while back. Anyways, nosajwp is a great person to deal with. Good luck with your sale!
nosajwp Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 That's not really one for a bedroom/studio is it?It can be, because even at full power, it sounds good at low volumes. However, if you want to really set it up for low volume playing, you can use 6V6 power tubes. Set to 1/2 power with the tube rectifier and 6V6's, I think it only puts out about 20 watts or so. Great crunch tones too with 6V6's.
Punkavenger Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 loud enough to rock out with a full loud band?
nosajwp Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 Oh yes! I play in a 20-25 piece jazz band without PA assistance, and I usually only turn about 1/2 way up and still have lots of volume to spare.
bubs_42 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 loud enough to rock out with a full loud band? The Hearbreaker FLATOUT ROCKS!
nosajwp Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 That it does...just looking for a change.
Punkavenger Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Thanks for the response. My "professional bass player friend" Jennifer is diversifying into guitar territory and is looking for a 2x12 setup. Her current band is LOUD and she doesn't want to be drowned out. She has to dominate. I swear she has more testosterone that most guys ... it must be growing up in the bronx. She wants a Bogner Shiva but doesn't want to spend $2600 clams. Shes also looking at dual rectifiers and Marshalls. She plays everything from alt country to heavy metal.I'm trying to talk her into it but she wants to buy "new" because of the warranty ... but doesn't want to pay the "new" price.Women! I give up.
nosajwp Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 I've never played a Shiva, but from all of the reading up on them I have done, they seem to achieve similar goals to the Heartbreaker. Fenderish cleans on one channel, and Marshally crunch on the other. The Marshally side on this one will just about knock you down when you crank it. Plus, the Love channel (Fenderish) can be set to mimic the liquid high gain produced by the Mark I in addition to the blackface-like cleans.I understand the warranty thing, but I can tell you that I do take care of my equipment, and the HB and 3/4-back are no exception. Probably one of the best condition used amps you could find out there.
Punkavenger Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I copied your response to my question and emailed it to my friend ... haven't heard anything back from her ... I'm still trying! I think it would be perfect for her and in her price range. Of course the more logical it sounds the more likely she is to shy away from the deal ... like I said "Women!"
