cmatthes Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Does that Epi have the "correct" Gibson headstock or a clipped/modified Epiphone headstock? I've seen some of the MIJ Epi Elites with a '50s style Gibson headstock, but can't tell from the pics. This one also has the 2 parallel screw TRC instead of the 3 screw, shorter TRC most standard-run Epis have.
Rocktuna Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 It has a modified, hump headstock. Kinda looks like they filled in the open book part, not huge like the cheaper standard Epi's. Yes it has the 2 screw TRC.These were made to the same specs as the American Gibsons. Mahogany body, Solid maple top, not a veneer. Grover tuners, Mahogany neck, no scarf joint. All American electronics. The only supposed difference is that it has a poly finish instead of nitro. But even that seems thinner, not all shiny and candy coated like a standard Epiphone
bruce919 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 These are very well made & great plying guitars. I would buy one of these of any current day Gibson. Long Neck joint , excellent sounding pickups. I have the Elite/ist pickups in several on of my Hamers.
3of5 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 My son owns one of these Elitist Les Pauls. It is a very good sounding LP, excellent build quality. The Poly finish is thin. I own an Elitist Casino. I have spent the last two years fruitlessly looking for a flaw on it. Gives my Newport a run for the money.

These were post Orville guitars only made for a few years. I've not seen an Elitist with correct headstock. If one exists, then it was probably not made for export.

I'm sure that those are for the Asian market only.
ZR Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 These are really nice guitars folks. Check out my rambling post here...Post re. Elitist, Gibson etc.
