More bass amp questions.... newer light weight amps

Ok, the more I read the more I'm thinking about going with one of the newfangled light weight bass amps. However, I'm still on a bit of a budget. Anyone have personal experience with something like the Genz Benz SHuttle 6.0?

Not with the Genz-Benz, but my Gallien-Krueger 700RB-II kicks major butt, and it weighs under 20 pounds.

www.talkbass.com has tons of information, you should check it out. The G-B Shuttles and the MarkBass products are well thought of over there.

That's where I'm getting my info. I have a link on a GB SHuttle 6.0 for $450 or so or a MarkBass SD800 for $575 with a rack bag. Couple one of those with a used 8 ohm Schroeder 1212R and it sounds like I'd have a killer rig, but several hundred dollars more than I was looking to spend. $850 for the rig with the GB or $950 for the rig with the Markbass. But not too bad on my back.

My local music store guy is a bass playing nutcase when it comes to his tone and he told me that the Orange Bass terror is THE amp!

He has giged with it 3-4 nights a week now for a few months and he tells me he's amazed with it every time

YMMV but it might be worth checking out.

Prolly a little out of your price range but the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout's with a single 12 will blow you away with the amount of sound that come out of those little combo's.......Dont play one if you dont want to spend that kinda money though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - those are great prices! In Canada, the MarkBass 1X12 combo lists at something like $1,200 - youch! FWIW, my son played one at Long & McQuade and said thought it was a winner.

Dave The Genz-Benz stuff is off the Hook, My good Buddy { from Ohio } Doug Johns is doing There Clinics You can find his stuff all over the Net. I had dinner with Mr Genz at Namm, Some very cool stuff in the works, allso. I carried Dougs Amp all around Namm . The Head weighs just under 8 pounds and comes in a Genz Bag. Sort of like a Man Purse..LOL. My opinion the only way to go... Price is reasonable And Dealers right here on the Board. Cheers Steve. :D

The Shuttle 6.0 looks like a killer piece of kit, but there's a question of whether there will be enough headroom for outdoor festival gigs.

Plus, I'm listening to these country tunes and I only heard about 1/2 of them and not being a bass player I'm wondering if I can really do this....

Play thru the PA until you're sure you wanna do it.

I can probably borrow a rig unless I find something I'd want anyway.

PSA: If anyone's limited to 12's or 15's on a stick, do not play bass through the PA unless it's a blown amp mid gig type thing.

Some of that "new country" bass stuff sounds hard.

The band plays through a big enough pro p.a. for every gig, so every gig would be d.i. to FOH, but some of the summer festival stuff is on big stages and they suggested I'd need a decent size rig to do those. Not huge mind you, but something with some power.

From talking to several people it sounds like I could handle them with a 600 or 800 watt head and a Schroeder 1212 cab due to the design. $$$
