gatorbyte007 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 For all the Shredders. Very cool Guitar. Very Close to a Set neck Cali. Hopefully somebody can help out with a Link.

gatorbyte007 Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 AHHHH Awesome, Thanks!!!!! (just to Add I'm not selling this. But someone will be Happy.)
DarrenD Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I always wanted a rand guitar. I don't know how well they play compared to the cali elite, though.
edgar_allan_poe Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I would contact Tom about that guitar just to make sure. I sent him an e-mail once about an old guitar of his and he was *more* than gracious with his time and knowledge about the guitar. He is a great guy and I'll bet that guitar smokes. Nice to see those old shredders getting their due.

Nice to see those old shredders getting their due.One sold out of Albany, NY about a year ago for 1400-1425 on H-C. I actually had it tied up and didn't know it. I forgot to check my email, and sure enough (five days later) I see his email and by the time I replied it was gone. I think right now 3K is pretty high for a Rand. I'd be pretty surpised if it tops 2K if it sells at all. I held one once and wrapped my hands around the neck and it is damned sweet if you like Soloist-type machines. Didn't get to "play" it though. Aslo, that isn't the most attractive graphic I've seen on a Rand and I think that's hurting it.
HamerJammer Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Awesome guitar! It's been awhile since one has made it to Ebay, they are a "must play" for the shredder fans. They are the 59 Burst Les Pauls of 80's style super-strats. I haven't researched deep enough,But I'm willing to bet the Rand influenced the Hamer Cali's first. It's about time Rand is getting back in the game and receiving credit for the fastest playing, sleekest looking designed guitar. I'm always knocked out when I pull my two from their cases...... Rands Rule!!
DarrenD Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 They are pretty cool guitars. I've been searching for one, but don't necessarily have extreme GAS for it. I offered the guy on ebay a trade for my Cali elite, but he really wanted the cash. The company is returning, making from old stock parts.....Don't know how much he will charge, but I'm guessing a decent penny. I always liked the paint jobs.
HAMERMAN Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I haven't researched deep enough,But I'm willing to bet the Rand influenced the Hamer Cali's first.I thought the Cali came out before the Rand and always assumed the Rand was a well done Cali clone. Anybody know for sure?
DarrenD Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hey Jammer I'm putting a feeler trade up for my Cali Elite. I would be interested in trading for one of your rands. Send me an email at darreno27@gmail.com or just pm me.

Anybody know for sure? The Cali came out in '88 - I also thought that particular Rand came out after that, but am not all that up on my Rand trivia.I do remember seeing one at the last guitar show I went to, which was at least 10 years ago. It was that same Cali-like model and was in the brightest neon pink I've ever seen, and had a "Sex Wax" sticker all over the back. If I recall, it was only tagged at $500 or so.

That Cali date is very helpful- My white striped Rand is a very early one from his so-called "production run", its a '87. Also, '86-'87 is when Whitesnake with Vivian Cambell played some prototypes in the Videos and Tour..... I'm sure Rand was at the drawing board with this design at least as early as '86??? .........hmmm interesting
